According to the chronicle work on site will begin this week, due to be completed by next summer.
They have been constructing large sections of the bridge off site since February.

Did you mean to share such an old news article? This dates back to January 2022.

The bridge deck is being constructed off-site and started in February. Construction on-site starts next week to prepare the areas either end of the bridge.

Im guessing the first bits of work will be to remove the wall and trees in Market Gate Car Park as they’re in the way.

Plenty of detailed info, include some FAQ’s on the delays to construction and rise in costs below:

TBH, it came up on my FB feed and I didn’t check the dates, looks like I linked an older version instead of the latest.

Spanning the rail line will only be a small part of the construction I would guess.

There is a lift & all sorts of things to sort. I have to say the town in looking much better than anytime in my lifetime. Why can't people give a bit of credit to the council for making some great improvements. Still a lot to be done, I agree, but hell, it is going in the right direction. You can't blame them for M&S's marketing strategy moving out of town for example, that is their national policy.

Couldn't agree more, B.M.B.C. have done wonders over the years, we had the heart & soul ripped out of the town & surrounding areas in the 80's 90's as was the same for a lot of places. The Tories however for some reason, are sticking in & twisting the knife with their cuts to our budget.

Couldn't possibly like these 2 posts more than I do.
I echo everything you've both said. I'm 65 and as JP says better than at any other time in my lifetime. It started to fall a little behind Donny at one stage. In modernisation. Allus been proud ot tarn non more so than now.

It does seem a bit on the long side. At work we’ve just done Regents Flyover in Leeds which was a much bigger job and took us 2 years but it’s probably the other elements that will eat up time.

People knock the council but they have done an absolutely fantastic job given the constraints they’ve had. There’s only one organisation levelling up round here and it’s not the Johnson cabal.

a few posters on this site tend to search through all the good things that have been done ( in all aspects of club, council, govt, anything) just to unearth what they see as a negative, it must have fun growing up in that environment ( if you dont agree with me then you're scum/lovely person you get my drift). i'm no lover of this council but with regards to the town centre i think they've done a fantastic job and no doubt the bridge ( or lack thereof) has caused a minor inconvienience but nothing earth shattering, but do not get me started on that dogs abortion of a waste of time and money that is the lights at cundy cross or the f**k up at penny pie park. by the way if you dont agree with me then its no biggy, i dont think either parties will lose much sleep over it. p.s. i'm into day 7 of a positive lft
