I've got to the point where sense and reason have gone out of the window. Equally, it wouldn't surprise me if we kept/resigned all of those and signed another 5 strikers on top!
Scraping the barrel if we bring Sam Winnall back. Injury prone and poor goal scoring record over recent seasons.
Sam's the biggest argument killer for experience means good. Before say 25 was when he was good. xxperience like for many footballers. Means Loss of form, loss of confidence, Injuries, disappointment and that spiral towards the national league. The youthful carefree Sam was the match winner.
Would like us to throw our hat in the ring for George Hirst. Even if only on a season long loan from Leicester. Starting to look a good player, did well at Pompey in League 1 so has what it takes at that level.
It's a different thing between who would you want to keep compared with who can you keep. Not to mention, who are you able to get rid of. We're losing huge amounts of revenue next season. We haven't got the budget to be paying players off or subsidising their wages for someone else and I'm not sure who would be willing to come in for anyone other than Woodrow and Morris.
Hourihane been released by Villa. Blunts seem in disagreement over whether they'd like him or not, He is one player I probably would welcome back, but I guess he has got one more big payday left in him yet?
I don't know if he's got his coaching badges as yet. I'd love to have him back at Oakwell, but I'd be extremely surprised if a Championship club doesn't come in for him.
He won’t be playing in league one next season. And even if he is, it won’t be for us. Someone like Sunderland or the cheating gets at Derby when out of admin will pay him treble what we would. But regardless, a championship club would take him. If Sheff Utd don’t want him, someone like Luton, Stoke, maybe even Rotherham will have a sniff.
Honestly cant belive people are saying yes. Never the same player after those injuries 1 goal in 22 games alot of the time struggled to get in the oxford side. Im all for abit of experience but they have to actually be good enough to play and make a impact at the standard were at.
Yep, no idea about his badges, I was wishful thinking. I reckon player manager would be the only way to tempt him if he has those sort of ambitions. I loved his attitude and determination when he was here and it's as much that as his playing ability that would put him on my wish list.
I don't go in for this hate of ex-players. For me he was the most clinical striker I've ever seen play for Barnsley. If there was ever a better combination than that of Hourihane's left peg and Winnall's bonce, I ain't seen it. The space he made for himself and the accuracy of his finishing was a joy to watch and I have some very, very special memories. His second against Walsall in the play-offs, the amazing celebrations for that goal in the crowd, the rush of adrenaline we all felt, it's a genuine highlight of my life. If Sam Winnall was still the player he was then he'd be an amazing signing. Unfortunately for the lad, injury ravaged him and he's not what he once was. I don't particularly want to see a former star player struggling with the limitations of his fitness.
It makes me chuckle remembering posters claiming Hourihane & Winnall were incapable of playing together in the same team!
