What I am trying to say is he should be honest on the pitch by never “just going through the motions”. It should never come to having to be honest and admit he hasn’t tried during the game. Obviously you think that an apology solves it then.
I'm not aware of him excusing himself, just being honest of his assessment of his and the team's contribution. For me, he should learn from this. It's a pity others in the team, and certainly in positions of responsibility up and down the country, don't have the courage to admit when they believe they've done wrong.
Respect your views JLW, and apologising for having a poor game is fine so long as there is no lack of effect. He his basically saying he didn’t try, that’s not a good start to a career for me and will be interesting to see how he develops going forward. Whether he being honest or not I think it’s poor that a young player trying to make his mark in the game is already having games where he hasn’t given it his all.
No I do not , I just think he is a young lad who is probably naive who has tried to give an honest interview , I think he is holding his hand up where if he had been a seasoned pro he might have chosen his words differently & I am not sure what makes you think that I believe an apology solves it , I am not pleased at all with performances by the whole group this season , they should be all looking in the mirror & doing some soul searching but alas I think some of them do not give a monkeys
The full interview, from which the Chronicle piece is taken is on the club web site. I think that you gain a different impression if you listen to the interview, rather than reading the Chronicle summary.
I think when teams play without clear direction and individual instructions like we have done all season it does make the players look like they are not trying.
Let's face it he is one of our better assets as a player. There should be others speaking out. Woodrow for one, who looks well off the pace. Maybe he came back too early, but has hardly pulled up any trees in the last two years. Never captain material for me. Good player in the past, but I don't see big bids coming in. At least he has had the balls to say something.
There's a proper player waiting in there. Just needs to channel the aggression in a more considered manner, up the composure, and cut out the niggly mistakes. He's one player I think will benefit from experience playing in League One. I just hope it's only one season (and not because we've gone down again!)
Admire the lad’s honesty and respect his opinion, but he’s wrong on the subject of embarrassing finishing behind clubs who have been penalised with points reductions. There’s nothing embarrassing whatsoever about finishing behind cheats who have spent countless millions they don’t really have, and have priced ‘rules abiding’ clubs from competing with them in the transfer market. The embarrassment is with the cheating clubs and the football ruling bodies alone.
Exactly this. Doug o kane has done what he does and sensationalised an innocent or maybe naive comment that the players have been "going through the motions ". He's acknowledged that his last two performances have not been good enough but to suggest he's confessed to not trying is just not true. I'd suggest people actually listen to the interview before jumping to the conclusion a wannabe sensationalist journalist leads you to. He can't even manage to quote him correctly as he mixes the Huddersfield and Blackpool games up in his one line quotes from an 18 minute interview. If you go to the games then the only thing you definately one hundred per cent can't accuse the kid of doing is not giving his all.
I think 99% of fans appreciate Wolfe's efforts and development this season without needing to listen to the full interview.
I think it’s more spin from the media team . To use Wolfe as the apologists is not as damaging as some of the others players and staff . Wolfe as been the only beacon of light this season and to use him is unfair in my opinion . They have a lot of fans to persuade to renew and this us just another attempt to woo us ! Good on the lad for his words even if they were not his
Dead right. The lad has come out and admitted he's disappointed with his and the teams performances in the last 2 dismal games and some are jumping on it. People said when he came on the scene "watch them turn after a couple of dodgy displays" and here we are. He was very poor on Tuesday but was still mom for me just for the last 20 mins when he showed some quality. He can't win with some cos if he'd come out and said "were all doing our best and giving 100%" he'd av been lambasted. Tried to be honest and people who haven't listened to the interview and probably don't go to games pile on.
