Players "just going through the motions" "It feels like a lot of players , including myself have just been going through the motions. I have watched the Huddersfield game back and I passed the ball out of play about four times. It's the hurt from relegation but it's not good enough" "The fans are paying money to watch us. They need to see a team that is putting everything in. A lot of fans left early on Tuesday. My Dad thought about leaving as well which says a lot when I'm playing." "Having watched the Huddersfield game back it looks like there's no fight. No one needs to see that. That's a bare minimum. We weren't at the races. We haven't been good enough this season. I know a lot of fans aren't happy with how the club has been run. But we have to take ownership as players for performances and results." "It's embarrassing that two teams have had points deducted but they are above us. The target is not to finish bottom. " Crikey !!!!!!!!!! Fair play to the lad who's impressed me this season. He says it like it is. Shame the owners and CEO sugar coated bull poo floats by without anyone believing it.
He's far from the top of the list of players warranting criticism this season, but fair play to him for being so self-critical and candid about his own performance. I give him far more credit for his honesty than I would criticise him for his performances. His ability to reflect as openly as he did there stands him in good stead for his future development. That took maturity and guts which many of his more experienced colleagues appear to lack.
taken a 22-yr old academy graduate to say it, while cauley, mads and other senior pros are nowhere to be seen.
that's wrong o so many levels, he's said that he and quite a few others thought "**** it" before the hudds game, the club should fine the lot of them and refund the hudds and blacky ticket holders at least as a gesture he's youth on his side so can cut him some slack, but apart from morris, the rest can go **** themselves
Says so much about Poya's ability to inspire the troops. How the f*** did he get through the interview. "Now then will you listen to everything I say and implement all of my crazy useless ideas?" "Yes of course". "Welcome to Oakwell Mr Asbaghi."
Let's hope they do more than " go through the motions" tomorrow. I can't quite get my head around how professional footballers do this. Their whole lives they've had to be competitive to get to where they want to be, surely they hate losing. My son' s hard enough on himself when he's played badly in junior league football! Well done to his Dad too, for giving him an honest critique!
Trying hard not to criticise but let’s not overlook the fact that he just admitted going through motions himself as well. He can ill afford not to try in any game, he has not made it big time yet......you can call it honesty him saying it but why did he go through motions himself?.....hope He goes on to have good career but strange statement to me......either super honest or naive
Trouble with admitted something is, it will stick in peoples minds and they will believe it when it's not true in the future. Maybe it's why the more experienced pro's haven't said anything.
Agreed. It seems a bit stupid to all sit here applauding someone for saying "you know when you spent your hard earned cash watching me play the other day? I wasn't trying at all hahahaha"
Thought the other good thing that was said that it’s not a good look for players to go through the motions if they are looking to move to other clubs.
Exactly.......so going forward if any player admits after to not trying then we sit back and pay homage to them, especially if they local lads......honesty starts on pitch not in post match interviews!
No. It's because they're so detached from the average person. So full of their own self importance that they couldn't give a toss
Would you advise players to be honest in interviews or are you saying that they should tell lies or maybe do not do any interviews ? Not having a pop but with you having such a strong opinion I am curious to what you think.
Option C. Don't be a lazy entitled little loser taking the piss out of paying customers in the first place
I think the lad has taken a good, hard look at himself, not liked what he's seen and given an honest assessment of both his and the team's shortcomings.
