Get him in now, him & Mr Devaney are Honorary Barnsley Folk. Full of passion full of hope, just one thing, can the board handle that?

100% would have him as staff, not as head coach, but as a coach/youth coach etc. Especially with the young uns, grass isn't always greener, may have some good advise for them.

Why though? He's never coached anywhere as far as I know and he'd just be swallowing up a wage that we could be paying to an actual experienced coach.

IF he's done his badges and would be willing to come in at entry-level, I'd have him here in a heartbeat. obviously he'd need to earn his stripes, to get near the first team

If that’s the requisite surely we would be better off going for Redfearn?
His coaching record is not great but at least he has some experience.

Yeah Bobbajob. He's an eager beaver. He could act as a scout or advise the young cubs. He'd be a good leader. It would score some browning points with the support if he guided us in the right direction.

Not for me. Don't get the obsession with bringing back old faces for the sake of it. We need the right people and people who like or love the club doesn't cut it enough.

totally agree it makes no sense when it comes to the first team. but in terms of the youth set up and dev squads, I think people like him could be a real asset. young enough to still be relevant to the local kids, still enough quality to be effective in training, knows the town inside out and has the battle scars to mentor kids against going the wrong direction. I think he'd be great, and could be a real role model for 'em.

I accept that some people are probably thinking 'get him around the first team' though, which I totally don't buy.

Too many are obsessed with bringing back old players with zero experience just because of what they did years ago as a player.

Spoke to Hugo Colace briefly at a game at the weekend in North Wales he was hoping Disco would get his chance to manage and he said something along the lines of he would be hoping to help coach alongside him.
