And next season he'll be back to bite us on the arse twice when we play them...

Guess it depends on whether Bristol would pay his wages in full or not. Wouldn’t surprise me if he was on loan again, but ideally, a sale can be arranged like we did with Ben Williams and Sibbick.

Zero yards contracts would be more fitting.

I've just posted about this on another thread as my reply to this was getting to essay length!

But I think some of these values are optimistic, Leya Iseka for example is likely on 5-7k a week. No one will cover that for a player of his quality, never mind paying half a million for the pleasure. As for Oulare he is likely one of our highest earners alongside Benson who was also signed last year on long term deals for significant sums. Obbi certainly won't be 'pay as you play' we can only hope Conway was convinced to add a clause stipulating he had to be fit given his injury history. But I doubt that.

About Aitchison. He signed a three year contract and has spent two years of that out on loan. Even if he returned and played well he'd be out of contract and leave for nowt.

An optimistic (but not necessarily unrealistic) view....

Sell Helik and Styles for a combined £4m. Taking 500k off the wage bill.
Contract reductions and expiries - £2m (based on somebody posting that this value was actually 2.8m last time)
Sell Morris £1m combined fee recieved and money off wage bill
Sale or loan salary contributions for Oulare, Thomas, Odour, Schmidt, other deadwood... £500k

That adds up to 8m of cost reductions or fees brought in. Leaving anything brought in for Collins, Andersen, Woodrow, Kane can be used to cover further shortfalls for a prolonged stay in League 1, or reinvested, or a combination of the two. There are also rumours of interest in Jacob Brown, which might see some money coming in if he moves.

Whatever fee we can get for Styles and Helik is crucial imo. If we can only get 1-2m combined for them, then we really will be down to the bare bones by the time we've covered the shortfall.

But then, those fees will cover year 1. Assuming we don't bounce straight back up, further cuts will be needed for year 2.

Be worth it if he was part of a team that got promoted though.

Yeah even allowing for the inevitable departures now the gloom is subsiding I'm looking forward to next season. A new broom and all that. I don't think our squad will be as depleted as some are making out.

We'll need Oduor, Thomas and Schmidt if we're going to challenge next season.

That'll be for the new head coach to decide (hopefully), but there will be a handful of players that are not in the coach's plans. We'll need to find somewhere for them to play, and get some contribution to their wages.

Schmidt has barely played for Esjberg, so I don't think we can expect too much from him next season.

I know he'd come good in the right system. A talented young footballer mis used by us. It's a shame he didn't score against QPR in Val's first game.
