Football has always been, and will always be - other than for very short term anomalous periods of five or ten years at a time - ranked largely by the size of the support base. And as such we will always be a second tier team by belonging, and any seasons we're not is rank underachievement. .
So when 7000 turn up next season, does that equate to 2nd tier? Nowhere near. But ask Sunderland how their masses have bounced them back, Ipswich another... History equals nothing in the modern game unless your historic team have millions piled in by the owners. But clubs such as Barnsley couldn't sustain a large level of debt. I'm not seeing a way back in any short term yo championship football, especially with Poya as manager out of his depth not coaching youth team football where results don't matter.
Next season? No, probably not, not with this shower in charge. Maybe not for 4 or 5 years, who knows. Looking back is always nice when we have a good record in terms of being in the 2nd tier. But as the saying goes, your only as good as your last game. Why do people do it with us? Well we always crop up as having a bottom 3 budget championship wise and due to that survival in the championship is considered over achievement.
I'd argue that having a bottom three budget with a top 15 attendance, on the back of a top 5 finishing squad and utilising a business model that is supposed to generate higher transfer fees received than other clubs is actually underachieving not overachieving

As for potential transfers, every club takes a gamble on every transfer. Our model is just more volatile in terms of ensuring quality I reckon. When it works and we do sell there is the potential for a higher return on investment. But signing unproven players looking for diamonds could also lead to a large output of coal instead. Its just more of a gamble hence the transfer fees. Add to that playing style which has been the main difference this season and not hitting suitable replacements for Mowatt for instance, the gamble hasn't paid off at all this time. With the lack of immediate noise, looks like we are stuck with Poya next season instead of making a fresh start on all 1st team coaching staff. Saying that, I'm not renewing with him at the helm looking clueless and being clueless. Like I said in another thread first time in 30 years but him and Schopp have taken the enjoyment out of watching the team play. Ultimately the board are responsible of course and whilst I agree with the model in principle of developing young hungry talent, the model isn't modified enough to cope with the uplift to long term championship football from league 1. Ultimately though it's the playing style we have adopted, terrible...
