Hi all, Decided to pop my poll cherry. They seem to be de rigueur at the mo. There's been a few posts of late, regarding player/coach reactions at final whistle. I've seen posts which criticised the coach/players for acknowledging the fans, and also for them not. So, if we're relegated on the final whistle tonight, do you want the players/ coach to.. Option 1: just leave the pitch, with your heads in shame. Your surrender has been shameful, don't start acting like you care now. Option 2: stay and clap until every fan has left. You owe every single one of those fans an apology tonight.
That's a tough one, Option 2 probably. What I do expect is Poya to be relieved of his duties by 10 pm.
I think the team coach should be driven off before the players or Poya can get to it, and leave them stranded at Huddersfield station as well.
You need a third option, don't really care what they do. I know Marcus Schopp got criticised for it, but if he didn't want to clap the fans I'd personally rather he didnt.
Option 3 Walk over to the crowd, heads tilted down with hands in the air. No clapping Sort of an apology and acknowledgement that we've been absolutely rubbish
Couldn't give two f cuks. What difference does it make? We're down anyway. We have been since our mini run of snatching draws from the brink of victory.
tend to agree. I wonder if anyone will have the b0llocks to do what troy deeney did, after the Blackpool defeat?
I'll tell you what I don't want to see, is players sinking to the turf at the full time whistle with their heads in hands, hugging and 'consoling' one another etc. as they effectively compete to look the most upset at their 'plight'. Like they did on Saturday. That ship sailed weeks ago. Man up and own it. Give it 100% in the game, clap the fans at the end. Then they can get in their cars, call their agents and go to whoever offers them the highest wage.
this is the thing for me. the faux devastation, from players who have routinely failed to back up their words and will already be lining up moves.
After seeing some of the abuse hurled at Birmingham players and songs sang directly at them, I think our players have got off very lightly indeed this season
Quotes in the Chron suggests he may still be here at the end of the season and there's a belief that some stability is required at Oakwell which might see him start next season in charge. They do make the point though that a failure to make a winning start next season might hasten his departure, no doubt after the transfer window has closed making it more difficult for his replacement to turn things around. Personally I'd want him gone this weekend if relegation is confirmed.
I'm ambivalent. If they sack him I wouldn't care less. However, if they kept him on I wouldn't be disappointed. Like I've said previously I see something in the guy and like him. I'd happily give him a chance in League 1. I get the point about the transfer window being shut. However, our recruitment model doesn't require that much if any input by the Head Coach anyway.
I hope to god he doesn't have any input into incoming players. He'd be like spackman the 2nd, only this time instead of 6,000 midfielders, he'd just buy defenders
