Totally agree Helen, I was never a fan of Schopp but I'm sure that Quina, Bassi and a fit Morris would have more than matched Poyas results with his more foreward thinking attitude.

I don’t think we keep the ball well enough to get results under either Schopp or Asbaghi to be honest. But under Schopp, losing the ball was almost always going to lead to a shot on our goal.

Unfortunately, the players do not have the bottle for it. Saw it at home to Hull, away at Derby and at home to Reading. We needed to bring in someone that could give them a rocket. They did well when they had a coach that almost scared them into being disciplined last season.

I've backed the players all season and put the blame towards the coaching or lack of it, confidence drained away very early in the season and we've been battling ever since. Unfortunately Poya was never the solution to the problem.

What did he say that people disagree with?

Long trip to south Wales but another good performance post-Christmas. The results are reflective of the performances.

Just read the post-match on the club website. Don't know why I bothered. I could have written that one in my sleep.

    They sure are.

That's why we're going to be relegated with our lowest ever points total at this level of football.

Using the worst seasons ever information that @wolvestyke researched I've looked at each of those seasons and in the case of seasons with more than 41 games ive calculated how many points we had after 41 games of the season by looking at the results or fr seasons with less than 41 games ive calculated how many we would have had after 41 games using points per game.

    Here's the results:

    1935/36: 44
    1931/32: 44
    1997/98: 38 (premier league)
    1910/11: 37
    1899/00: 37
    2017/18: 37
    1958/59: 37
    2013/14: 36
    1964/75: 36 (3rd tier)
    2021/22: 30
    1952/53: 22

    I miss-typed above.

It should have been aren't a reflection of the results.

We played well yesterday and created chances. You take that and compare it to what VI did at that ground last season. A lot better yesterday.

He got covered up by the Brilliance of Daryl Dike and Poya and Schopp didn't and doesn't have that.

Take DD out of the team and Struber, Ishmael, Schopp and Ashbagi have faced the same problems since lockdown.

It shows that Ismael had the right idea - trying to play tippy tappy rhubarb football with these players has led to finishes of 21st and 24th either side of a 5th place finish.

But that brand of football was obviously not required by The Club, so we've made the sensible change back.

The players wouldn't have backed him again.

I have to be careful but that's the reality.

If he's the coach you say why did he fail so badly at WBA with some top footballers?

Why having been a footballer with a big rep and friends at the top of the game does he not last more than 50 games at any club. Hes had more clubs that Tiger Woods at this point.

Also, the problem isn't the football, it's chance-taking. 3/4 real chances missed yesterday. 2/3 Chances missed early at the New Den. Brittains chance against Reading.....

I agree in part. That brand of football tends to only work with limited players and 'smaller' clubs. Lots of Big Time Charlie's aren't too bothered about launching it to the corner to play rugby, then pressing and winning back and launching again.

But obviously, we're a small club who benefitted from that. And if our players don't like it, then I'm not sure they've liked this year either.

That's interesting because only including games that Daryl Dike DIDN'T play last season, Val racked up 14 wins and 4 championship draws totalling 46 points from just 26 games. That's 1.84 points per game or the equivalent of 85 points over the course of a season.

But of course it was just Dike covering up his poor management...

Val had us winning games regularly before Dike was signed.

We were lucky enough to have Ismael at a time when nobody knew about his style of play. I doubt he'll ever have that success again unless he becomes more flexible in his approach.

It's not players been big time Charlie’s. It's footballers wanting to play Football. They move to Barnsley and for some of them it's 100s if not 1000s of miles from home.

They want to progress. They want to showcase what they can do. Mads Anderson for example. He wants to pass the ball, not just the big hoof. He's got Denmark and Elite ( prem standard) aspirations. The Big hoof does nothing for that.

Can go through the team. Styles, came back from international duty with big praise. He got on the ball and passed it. If he comes back to Barnsley and we start hoofing it straight over Callum’s head and he gets dropped from the squad. What do you think he will be thinking then?

Except styles had his best season under Val and was getting high praise from all quarters. This season he's been poor because this style of play hasn't suited him.

He does that to clubs Cunning stunt. I've noticed he destroys every club and it takes time for them to recover. French/German Jose Mourinho.
