A lot of us have said they weren’t going to renew.

On Sunday morning, reflecting on as bad a performance we’ve seen recently, with no fight, no bottle, no nothing really, I found myself still wondering if not renewing was right.

Even with feeling that low, even with the distrust I have in our owners, even though I swore I’d not put a penny more in - I still wasn’t sure. I figured that would mean I might regret it, so I spoke to my lad, realised that he really wanted to carry on, and so blew £370 on renewals for both of us.

We will be there to see how things pan out.

I honestly didn’t see me renewing at all, from about October ish all the way until they announced the prices.

So that said, given I folded, I thought I’d ask everyone else (of the ST holders amongst you) if you are renewing. Be honest boys and girls.

I'll probably renew before the deadline, but for the first time in I don't know how long I haven't renewed straight away. I'll leave it till the last minute this time, but I really for the first time ever, have a real distrust about everything about the place.

Yes. We've been in this position before getting relegated to league one and feeling miserable about it. But on a number of occasions we've gone and got promoted again with a couple of enjoyable seasons. Those who don't wish to renew run the risk of paying around £25 a game to see our new players when undoubtedly the feel good factor comes back.

I think I'll be the same, it's a bond with my son so if he wants to renew I probably will. Be interesting to see if his mate that comes with us wants to carry on next season.. If not I think my lad will just go to the odd games with mates. Tbh, best chance Khaled will have of his ST target would be to extend the early bird offer.

    Very interesting early doors results.

Very small sample - but of the opening 14 votes, we have ten that have or will be renewing, two that there is a fair possibility they will, another one which is siding on not but still might - and only one who definitely isn’t.

I was suspecting more definite no’s if I’m honest.

I am not that surprised. What we think on here is an extremely small amount of Barnsley fans in the grand scheme of things. I suspect most of our fanbase either don't care about the 750k or don't even know the story about it. They just go watch the players and support those on the pitch and don't take notice or don't care about what happens off the pitch. When people talk about us only having 5 or 6 thousand season ticket holders next season the amount will be much higher than that.

With cost of living going up I'm not so sure. Was looking at another forum and someone said he'd spent his bonus at work on STs. Those who don't get bonuses might not have the spare cash. I'm lucky in that I can afford it, but if this had happened when I had small kids I couldn't justify it.

I’ll stand by 6k at the most, possibly even less if they don’t extend the early bird offer.

I don't think we will be seeing 10k cracked again, but we should be nearer that than 6k so I will go for 8k+. The couple of dozen of us that moan on here are a tiny fraction of the thousands of Barnsley fans who support us. People might not renew because of cost of living, but I don't think that many as a percentage of our fan base will not renew because of the owners. Most people go to games to support those on the pitch firstly.

Bit of a change now, quite a few definite no’s.

The numbers are too insignificant to draw any confident conclusion of course but we are looking at about 60-65% renewal rate. How many did we sell for this season?

Id guess 6-7k at present.. but you never know, sack Poya and bring in someone who would make the fans think that the tide has turned and get behind.. And you never know. At least another couple of k on top
Not expecting that to happen btw..

I honestly don't think this 'not a penny more' mentality has any effect on our owners. I think the only way to let our feelings known is to take direct action (planned protest) or spray pain 'eff off w4nker' on the west stand wall, see if Conway is true to his word.

The club will be here long after these owners are gone - if you want to go watch Barnsley, then go watch. If I lived in Barnsley, or Yorkshire, which hopefully I will in the next 18 months, I'd be getting an S/T. I respect people's decision not to get one. The matches I've been to this season have left me utterly deflated, more deflated than pre-pandemic even. But for me I go to watch the team, and if that is in spite of the owners, then so be it. They will still be here if I choose to go or not. They will likely still be here if we sell 4,000 season tickets, or 11,000. They don't put their own money in, and I don't think they take much out - I don't really understand what they are doing here, are they just 'building their portfolio'? If they are they are doing a fine job of creating reputational damage. These owners don't represent BFC, they represent a business conglomerate who happen to be our owners for a brief moment in time. They are so far removed from the Barnsley mindset of being open, honest, direct, being house-proud, and not seeing everything as a business opportunity to cash in quick. They don't live in the town. I think they care to an extent - in terms of their business interests - but they don't care enough about the fans, the town, the people on the ground that actually invest a substantial part of their lives in supporting their team.

Season tickets I can’t imagine any circumstances where we will sell 8k. We might sell 6/7k and a 1000 u14s

Well all I'll say is out of a cross section of maybe 20 friends and acquaintances there are only about 8 renewing. Most of these people have been going for 20 plus years.
Also my son and his mates are all saying they aren't renewing (they will still go to some away games). That's 10 or more lads in their 20's who are turning their back on the club.
If Khaled thinks 11k is a even a remote possibility he's more deluded and out of connection with the fanbase than I thought.

Then that would be 8000 season ticket holders, u14"s would have been counted in this seasons total & should be counted in the up & coming one .

The cost per game this season so far for me is £110. I bet you can guess which option I've chosen in the poll haha
