If you owned a company would you hire Khaled El-Ahmed based on his performance at Oakwell?

West stand closure. Deliberate vagueness regarding the reason and a final admission that contrary to his earlier claims stewarding allocation WAS a factor I the decision.

Stating that success on the pitch wasn't success for Barnsley because no bids were received for players (they were) and the disastrous decision by him to interfere in team tactics.

The Watford friendly situation and his brag that he had turned his phone off to stop them contacting him after shafting them.

    Hiring asbahgi

    The vouchers debacle.

Failing to sign a ball winning midfielder in January

Announcing a price freeze that is £50,huger than the last purchase price.

His constant deflection and avoidance when asked questions.

I wouldn't have him in control of the TV remote nevermind a business but would you?

I’d be delighted to have him as a CEO.

    At one of my competitors.

I'd hire him tomorrow if it gets him out of Oakwell.....unfortunately, I think we may all suspect that he alone isn't the problem.

I wouldn't have him on the bins with some of the lads I used to work with.

He'd probably be one of those who leave your bins blocking the drive.

I've taken aim in another thread. But he has his qualities, for balance. Personable, bilingual, knowledgeable. I'd like to see him develop his love for the soft side of things without him being hamstrung by the owners and having to juggle multiple balls.
His performance is being impeded by his having to act as a firewall between dodgy owners and a suspicious fanbase.

Like a lot of our players, his spell at Barnsley will benefit his future career without him necessarily shining here.

He seems to invite criticism at every turn, some of it warranted, some of it exaggerated. Do you think it would be better if he was more of a silent partner, a bit like how Dane faded into the background before going on gardening leave and surprising us all by pulling up at the City Ground? Genuine question. One thing he does deserve credit for is his presence, he has had his fair share of fan meetings, and every one has been in the midst of turmoil.

Sure he's bilingual and fair play to him because I'm certainly not but I think it's about as useful in his position as if he could knock up a mean stir fry. Nice I his home life but doesn't make him any good at his job.

I'm not so sure he's knowledge either, his stock answer is that he doesn't know. He's got as much knowledge as Manuel.

Personable? In the same way that the rogue trader who convinces old Doris (hi jamdrop) that she needs a new roof when she doesn't is personable.

All fair points, but the OP asked if I'd hire him for my company, and as I spend all day embarrassingly trying to communicate with Germans, French and Italians, then yes.

I think it would be better if he told the truth. Having fan meetings are all well and good but if nobody believes a word he says then they're pointless. I'd prefer to hear that the west stand was closed due to stewarding costs than have the CEO lie and say it wasn't only to admit months later it was.

I'd prefer him to be honest and say the vouchers were advertised without any idea what they'd offer so they're now in the back foot doing so than the rubbish about printers and better offers and a few weeks etc only to discover the offers are laughable and put together by 'normal' employees over Christmas out of a sense of moral duty.

For me it's things like that. Honesty and a visible presence go hand in hand. Without the former then the latter has no merit.

I'd hire him in a heartbeat if my aim was to devalue my company for some reason.

Fair points. I kind of feel at the minute that he is too active and maybe should keep schtum for a bit and stay in the background for his own good? One thing, when did he admit to the stewarding thing, I think I missed it?

During the Q&A with gally and loko

At a fans forum in October when it was alleged that the stand had closed to allow stewards to be redeployed to the away end Andrew Clark marketing director stated (with Khaled in the room) "We must stress, this is not a factor in its closure whatsoever" Khaled said "It is nothing to do with money"

During the Q&a he said..."it also had to do with reallocation of stewarding to make sure we had the right amount of stewards"

Yes. Lying, deception, a lack of understanding of how the business actually works, plus the ability to con people into thinking you might know what you’re talking about, are the most important skills any ‘successful’ business person must possess.

I'd say he's the second-best CEO to listen to/ ask questions of in-person behind Ben Mansford who fans wrongly criticised when he was here.

He was a senior within City Group and recommended to Barnsley by non-other than the Red Bull group.

If you don't think he answers questions then what did you think of Dane Murphy. Unless it was to TJ and Dunne he wouldn't confirm if the grass at Oakwell was green.

I’m going with no. If I had hired him he would be out after the disasterous PR within his first few weeks which has set half the support against the owners.

I listened to the ST interview and don't recall him saying that, but that being said it was nearly 3 hours long! Thanks for filling me in.

How come khaled is now in the firing line...its only a matter of days ago he was being called conways puppet and was accused of doing as he was told......why not get off his back and instead of laying blame at his door for the disaster that this season is ...may I suggest blame the real culprits Conway and the PMG mob...stop grasping at straws looking for someone to blame from within those doing their best ..they too are in an unpleasant situation ...accept that the real problem stares us in the face and the majority aren't willing to do anything about it...other than go after easy targets...Conway and Co are the problem but most refuse to accept it.

This is my gut feeling too. Apart from the West stand debacle, which he has admitted should have been handled differently, I do believe he's trying. He's also in the firing line because Conway and co give the impression they couldn't give a toss and rarely show their faces. If I was Khaled I'd take a back seat and let things play out. Let our moneybag owners prove themselves (or not). A part of me feels very sorry for Khaled.
