I don't know why you keep repeating that I've said this. Apologies if I'm not being crystal clear, but there wouldn't be a letter to write or legal proceedings together if we weren't being penalised financially or performance related. But I would expect, and pretty much guarantee, that we would throw our support behind a club that was. You can't sound out the EFL for legal proceedings when you've got nothing to claim back. It isn't about having it both ways. I'm pretty taken aback by the response to all of this to be honest. Not just from a handful on here, but also on Twitter. Peer over the wall there and there's folk demanding we're relegated now, docked points ourselves, and using the word 'grass' like in here. Even once comment that it's against the values of the town. All about opinions, but for me standing up against cheats is exactly what I want from my football club - especially given they're not doing much else right recently. Being apologists for Reading's cheating is bizarre in my mind. And nobody is suggesting we've not failed miserably ourselves, but at least our incompetence has been done fairly (ish).
I am no lawyer so if someone is more educated in that area than me feel free to correct me but you can surely still call someone out for breaching rules etc. even if you are not directly affected at that time? As long as we are in the league with them then we are some what affected by their rule breaking regardless of if a ball has been kicked or not. Obviously I know you cannot take legal action unless you are affected but surely we could have sent a letter etc. before this point asking for clarity or why they haven't been punished more etc? We could have even done a generic thing about the masses of clubs breaching rules and making huge losses in this league despite FFP rules being in place. Did we really need to wait till this exact point to do this? Some people always go too far on twitter, its just the way people are on there. There is no way we should be docked points or anything that is clearly stupid and if 'fans' are calling for us to be instantly relegated for this then they aren't true fans. I wholeheartedly hope we survive this season I really do but wish it wasn't because we ran to the EFL to try and get someone docked more points. I don't know the full details of the Reading case nor does anyone outside of this, but the EFL has already found them guilty and docked them 6 points which they thought was a valid punishment. Do I think it is enough? No probably not, but that doesn't mean our CEO should be writing to them at this point months after that deduction was enforced to try and seek more punishment.
Sounding a bit Millwall there sweet cheeks. Always easier to highlight someone else's failings than address your own.
But you're suggesting this is the first complaint we've made. It might be the first one that's been made in public recently, but we've been vocal about this for years. There's no reason to think we're not equally as vocal in the meetings and conversations that go on behind closed doors. If we were to sue Reading when we've finished mid table, or fifth, what are we threatening that legal action for? What is our objective?
If they’ve broke the rules they’ve broke the rules and should be punished as per the rules . Doesn’t make a damn bit of difference who shouts loudest . You think just because we’re in this position we should just be quiet and let the cheaters do their cheating . If they hadn’t broke the rules they wouldn’t be in this position of clubs calling them out . You think we are more to blame by calling them out or grassing ? If the EFL haven’t applied the rules we should want to know why , they’ve vigorously applied them to us this season with fines so why shouldn’t they apply them to others ? Whether clubs are in a relegation battle or a promotion battle as Boro were if the clubs in question hadn’t cheated they’d have nothing to fear . I don’t give fek whether some clubs fans despise us for not cheating and wanting the rules applied that says more about their morals than anything we’ve done ,when you want cheating to be overlooked and the non cheating team that abides by the rules relegated because they’ve decided not to buy players they can’t afford and against the rules to help keep them up .? If they’ve broke the rules and cheated I want them punished as per the rules and if the relegated for it hard lines they shouldn’t have cheated . I don’t care for the criminal code of non grassing I respect the rule of law fek em .
The objective would be to stop the cheaters. Our position on that should always be the same regardless of league standing if they are so passionate about this matter.
I think the rules will be abolished soon anyway. They don't suit any club that is being run by a rich fuddy duddy with more money than sense.
Good. We should do everything in our power to raise awareness of other clubs cheating. We're playing by the rules and getting punished for it* --- *this is not an endorsement of The Board. Still can't stand them.
We have failings. Think you need to read some of my other posts. I also engage with the club. If I don't like summat I say it and don't hide behind anyone else to do the talking. As for my own failings. I have none Ask mi missus.
Yes for the initial cheating but they’ve cheated since and were highlighting that as the EFL seem to have turned a blind eye . The only our thing the club have done is to highlight cheating and we are the ones being turned on by other fans and unbelievably our own . I’m not sanctioning what the club has done this season they’ve made some absolutely stupid decisions , but we haven’t cheated and we have abided by the rules and whether we are relegated or not we are only asking fir the rules to be applied nothing more nothing less . It’s not immoral or illegal to ask that this be done and the ones doing the shouting are the ones asking for the rules to be ignored so who’s morally bankrupt there ?
Don't think we will ever agree on this one so just I will just leave it at that. You have your opinions and whatever I say won't change that and that's fine nor will my point of view change. Hopefully we survive this season but if not I am sure we will be back in the Championship soon (ideally without Conway and Co)
What cheating have they done since? Not being a pain just a genuine question, what since the initial 6 points have they done and has this been something very recent for us to choose to do this now? Or is it just because we are running out of matches to save our season.
That’s why they were brought in in the first place , It’s not just the club that’s left in crap when these rich owners abandon these clubs with all the debt . It’s the small businesses that have provided a service and are left unpaid and having to lay off staff etc , Plus clubs staff etc and that’s why the rules are in place to protect them as much as they can .
Not really opinions though mate. You're suggesting things that aren't true. We can agree on hopefully surviving though or being without Paul Conway in the future.
They’ve brought in more players and racked up more debt ignoring the reasons why the points were deducted in the first place . Before you defend clubs against ours you really ought to find out why we taking the Stance in the first place .
