There's nothing wrong with us writing a letter to the EFL to ask for clarification though. That fact that it shouldn't be down to us, and it shouldn't just be us doing it doesn't mean it's wrong for us to do it.
So any team or sportsman/woman in any sport should just shut up and accept cheating/breaking the rules of their sport? Can't disagree with your comments regarding our poor form/performance this season, however it seems to me you have deep down dislike for anything B.F.C. related. You belly ache about anything the club does or doesn't do. You seem to have an axe to grind. Stendels gone mate, get over it. We are not the worst team in the league, Peterborough are. Up the Reds!
Simply put Yes Barnsley and other clubs (including boro) in the championship have challenged the EFL on many occasions re following the rules. You can guess those who don't.
I'm not sure others have broken the rules like Reading. A few are sailing close to the wind, but just within the limits of financial fair play - which is an incredible £35 million a season loss for three consecutive years or something equally as outrageous. Reading are running well beyond that.
But we're not the only club doing it. Boro and Wycombe as well in the last 12 months. When you play football do you point at those in your team not running or challenging and sack it off? Or do you try and influence through your actions and play as committed as ever?
You're howling at the moon though mister. It's futile. The EFL is essentially run by its members... the clubs. You need the majority of members to vote things through. You won't get that. So this half arsed tokenist moaning from our club when we're at risk of relegation from our own actions is pretty weak. If they were serious, sue the EFL. That's going to take a crap tonne of money, the owners won't foot the costs, so we therefore can't afford it. And we'd lose. But if it's a point of morality (which obviously our owners have zero grounds to stand on that basis), then do something for everyone, not just as a desperate attempt to try and cover over the shockingly poor mismanagement of the club.
We’re generally right to complain about other clubs. Reading, Stoke and Cardiff are great examples. I support doing that. BUT if we’ve specifically written to complain about Reading this week then I’m afraid it comes across as petty. I know Conway has complained about other clubs in the past too, but this just looks like we’re begging for another deduction to keep us up. There’s plenty of clubs in that league that we can compete with financially, but we haven’t competed because of PAUL CONWAY. He’s the reason we’re going down. We’re an embarrassment.
So will I. I want to play Rotherham at Championship level. We either seem to play them in league one or our two clubs keep swapping leagues so we miss each other.
Aren't Reading the only ones falling foul of FFP rules? We could complain about other teams and the losses they've posted, but it isn't against the rules as they're currently within the 'loss cap'. Happy to be corrected on this as I'm not entirely sure, but for those who think we look stupid for complaining about Reading, we'd look even worse officially complaining about clubs who haven't yet broken any rules.
The members voted through the rules which are already in place, the EFL board enforce it. They didn't need a member vote to deduct points this season, and if Reading have breached again, they won't need a vote to punish again. If a club has had half an ffp punishment suspended, then goes on to announce another massive loss as well as signing three new players in january, you have to ask questions.
It only becomes futile if folk don't stand and fight until summat is actually done. They are like the electorate. "Voting is pointless." Well let's just roll over and have our bellies tickled. Or let's be run by a dictatorship if nowt works. Are you going next season. If not fine. I'd rather take another go in the championship instead of league 1 please. At the expense of cheats. If necessary. Your comments don't wash. If everything was hunky dory with the owners and we went down on merit. Would you still stand by and let the cheats win. I suspect not. I have no love affair for our owners. But they have every right to challenge in this instance. As you have every right to question the owners intentions and dealings within reason.
Rolling over and having our belly tickled will get us as far as hollowly threatening legal actions and not following through... again. What we say about it here will have zero effect. I don't like cheats. I think football is broken beyond words. But I fully suspect that our fans would lap up any success we might have had if we'd actually been bought by billionaires who ramped up debt levels in the hope of a premier league spot.
I thought it was more specifically the terms of their suspended 6 point deduction, and whether the terms for that have been breached already, therefore should be applied this season rather than next.
You're describing almost every online discussion. Ever. Unplug the BBS. Time is up. As someone who doesn't step near Oakwell these days how can you say this confidently? Who do you speak to outside of the BBS to form this expert opinion? I for one wouldn't want us splashing cash or chasing any dream. I just want football to be sustainable and fairer. No cheats. No football clubs at risk of being shut down and going out of business. I would hate to be a Newcastle United fan right now.
Reads to me based on continuous losses and continuous cheating. It's a fairly brief summary though and just a letter rather than legal action. The other teams haven't yet fallen foul of FFP, which is why we can't write a letter about them.
With respect not sure what you mean by following through. The Wigan case as I remember it was up for appeal. And we would be called in if necessary to state our case. I don't think it got to that point. As the EFL in this case stood their ground. ( I'll stand corrected if wrong). Wednesday delayed their problems for a year. Due to Chansiri's delaying tactics trying to escape punishment on legal grounds. As for your last point I sadly would have to agree that most would. But most of us of a certain age don't want to end up without a club or banished to the umpteenth tier. Having gone through administration before and fearing extinction.
