Anyone else agree Michal Helik getting back to what he was last season? Thought he was pretty poor before Christmas and if it was Kitching/ Sibbick/ Moon/ Halme .... giving away some of those mistakes and goals people would have been very critical and complained about him. But Since the Covid break, Helik's been very good at the side of the ever-impressive Anderson who I still don't think gets the credit he should
I think both have adjusted to playing in a 4 very well. I still think selling Sibbick was a risk, but if selling him enabled us to get Quina and Bassi in, it was a good deal.
I think he looks much better with pace at the side of him great header tackler blocker but both he and Mads have no pace. That's why val liked Sibbick and poya has William's all about balance that what whole team looks now.
Now that we've started taking the lead in games it gives them focus and something to defend, they should take great confidence from holding out after the penalty yesterday because Boro looked very dangerous. We seem to have cut out the pointless passes at the back which should also help.
Excellent performance from Michal on saturday, never put a foot wrong and made some excellent last ditch tackles, almost Futcheresque.
You’re right, he has improved the last couple of weeks after, in my opinion, a tough December. Him, Mads and Jordan Williams all compliment each other well at the minute.
For me, we’ve looked better defensively since we’ve had better presence in midfield. Obviously Quina and Bassi with their ability means we retain the ball better, which helps enormously, but having a solid and reliable presence behind them doing the running and covering is essential. We haven’t had that all season but Matty Wolfe has been immense in that role. He’s as monumental to the improvement in results (and form of teammates) as both the new boys in my view. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I really think the lad has been key to a lot of our improvement.
I was very impressed with Williams on saturday, he made one peach of a tackle just as their lad was about to stick it past Collins in the first half. At the moment with Vita, Helik, Andersen and Williams we have a quality back 4.
It isn't a back 4 out of position but a back 5 or 3 with Vita and Styles WBs. We have a large transformation on the ball
Glad someone sees this. It's how Struber did it two years ago. And when it works, it's very clever. Let's hope it's as ultimately successful as it was in 2020.
