Royal Mint today released a coin range to celebrate 150 years of the FA Cup.....

It's a lovely looking coin and the different types are already going on Ebay sold listings for more than you can buy on Westminster. A good investment as it will keep going up in value over time.

Just a word of warning... I would suggest anyone considering buying them buy them for what they are... rather than as an investment, it's rare that such coins ever outstrip their face value, at least within several lifetimes... the current mania on ebay for ridiculously priced 50p pieces is nothing more than a south sea bubble... just waiting to burst. In reality con artists put coins that are not really valuable on at x 000, it makes the papers that a certain coin is now worth a fortune... in reality the alleged 'buyer' is a mate of the seller and the actual financial transaction never takes place, unless they manage to hook an unsuspecting customer... but people remember the hype in the paper headline. The thing that will drive real collectors is scarcity, if only a tiny number are minted they may appreciate if looked after in as new condition... Churchill Crowns from 1965 are an example, they minted millions, you can see them on ebay now for 100's of pounds... its absolute bull, take one to a real coin collector and you'll be lucky to get face value.
