They were all proper footballers. It's a shame had a dumpling in charge after Bobby Robson. Unlucky in the Semi v West Germany in 90 and 96. Wasted Euro 92 and world cup qualification for USA 94 under turnip.

I think back to genuine options we had. Fowler, Cole, Wright, Le Tissier, Ferdinand, Merson, Beardsley just to name a few who weren't regulars. Then Steve Bruce never got a cap. Pallister, May, Parker and Sharpe just at Manu.

Agreed. I'd add Sheringham as well. One of the most intelligent footballers I've ever seen. Was Scholes in the squad or he was a bit too young?

Some good international players but only Gascoigne was world class.

He didn't like it near his hair or when they dribbled.

Not sure I'd put Shearer in the same class as Gazza......out there on his own, Seaman, Adams, Sherringham.
Good target man obviously, but world class?

I know right back isn’t a very sexy position but can’t believe I’m the first to mention Gary Neville. One of the players of that tournament for me. Ticked s as ll the boxes defensively and man could he whip a cross in.
