1. Kyle Dempsey from Gillingham (captain). He's out of contract in the summer, so the Gills want to cash in and have turned down £150k from Bolton Wanderers. Competitive box-to-box midfielder in the Alex Mowatt style. I would have thought that he would be well worth a £200k bid, or slightly more and we have been linked before. Still only 26. 2. Jake Young from Forest Green Rovers. He's not even getting a start, but has nine goals from the eleven starts he has made. From Shelley and was on the Blades books before going to Forest Green. Gets most of his goals as super-sub, but isn't that just what we need? They might deal for as little as £50k, but would probably want six figures. Well worth a punt. Watch his set-up for Stevens' goal last Saturday. Still only 20. 3. Tyreece Simpson who's at Swindon Town on loan from Ipswich Town. Muscular and speedy striker, who has stepped with ease up to Division Two standards and would work well down the middle, or on the right of a front three with Morris, Adeboyejo and Leya Iseka. Really impressed by this striker for one so young. I thought that he had been recalled by Ipswich, but there is no sign of that. Might cost us a bit more than £300k, but worth a punt at anything up to £500k. The new Daryl Dike, I would say. Only 19 years old. Eleven goals this season. My point here is that we cannot compete for Championship experienced players, so these are names which fit our needs and which we could afford to bring in. I have watched them through a fair few highlights and full matches and they would be good value at the prices suggested.
I can’t really comment on what you’re saying in terms of these players but how tinpot do we look? We look like we’re in the same recruitment bracket as when Yeovil, Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Burton Albion were in this league. The club is a shambles.
We are missing a trick in my eyes if we don't get Jay Fulton even if its a loan till end of season. Not getting the game time at Swansea ( 5 apps all season) and at 27 wants regular football. Tonnes of experience in this league but not too old etc. a really good holding CM for this league. We also missed out not getting Danny Batth from Stoke. Ended up at Sunderland and got MOTM on debut. Owls were also sniffing but would have been good here IMO.
There's players out there who would ikmprove us. It wouldn't take a huge sum. Dempsey could be a shout, I remember his name from our previous link to him. I think a David Perkins type would improve us a lot - bargain buy from Rochdale years ago. Surely that type of signing isn't beyond us?
We will finish up with one in having just missed out on others. IMO. but that`s only if we have decided to go for it.
Its not tin pot at all, we have to plan for division one & two of the teams you belittle are in that division & these are teams we will be competing with , we need good players at that level & it makes sense to bring them in now before others seize the opportunities .
25th of January and nothing on the horizon. Two players released, one of whom was a quite regular starter. Down to bare bones, but I'm not expecting much over the next week.
I am afraid the league table does not lie & we are currently on course to be the worst ever side to play in the second tier of English football so I have to disagree with you , we certainly do deserve to be in division one.
I've been banging on about him for some time and the more I see him, the more I want us to go for him. Surely Morecambe would let Cole Stockton go for a few hundred thousand. Or is that too much for us? The new David Currie
Fulton would be a good shout, but with over 2 years left on contract, would imagine transfer fee or even wages on loan could be a challenge for us.
thats the only worry, doubt he would sign full time anyway with us destined to drop but I am sure we could afford him on a 6 month loan just to help out and get him game time every week.
Just had a quick look and rumoured to be on around £8k so yeah not insurmountable you wouldn’t think.

Nope, based on history we don’t. Of course we do this season but when you act like a League 1 side (Burton and Doncaster), you end up in that league hence my point.
