(Great NIN album.) I honestly think next season we will be in amongst another relegation battle in League 1, & with how things are at the club I honestly think we are on the downward spiral to league 2, & maybe non league. We won’t sign anyone this window, which to me smells of the owners not giving a **** if we go down. We will sell the likes of Helik & styles to make up some of the money we lose going down. We won’t buy anybody in the summer, just rely on lower league free transfers, & maybe finally use players like Christie Davies (remember him?). No experience will be signed. And god knows what the managerial situation will be like! I suspect we’ll stick with Poya, but let’s be honest he’s not the answer. We’ve seen it at other clubs, that when you’re on the Downward spiral it takes massive intervention to get back on the up again, & I fear for us, with these owners. I’m just hoping that these mystery buyers are legit. Either way I’ll be voting with my feet. These tosspots aren’t getting another penny of my money!
Such a good album. Quite a few songs on there can be attributed to our current board and situation... Mr Self Destruct Ruiner I Do Not Want This The Downward Spiral Hurt
I think our downfall can be summed up in these two articles. 4th June https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/20957/reds-confident-both-ismael-and-mowatt-will-stay Dane Murphy confident that Ismael will be staying on at Barnsley, merely because he took part in a Zoom call, but no actual mention of talking to him to see where his head is at. Probably, because less than two weeks later, it became apparent that Murphy himself was heading for the exit as well, with his contract inexplicably run down 15th June https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...uit-barnsley-fc-for-nottingham-forest-3273824 If the owners are too busy fighting amongst themselves, or buying other clubs, to notice that the CEO's contract is about to expire, then what hope do we have?
The best ceo we’ve had in a long time. That’s what really depresses me about the 80% lot, they don’t know a good thing when they see it. Stendel, Murphy, Val, Dike and a whole host of back room staff all talent that we should have held onto.
Problem we've got is it sounds like our contracts are deliberately set up in such a way as to encourage staff and players to move on. "Come to Barnsley for a year, make a name for yourself and we'll not stand in your way if a bigger fish comes knocking. It's fine, there is an endless conveyor belt of people with bags of talent we can tap into..."
Stendel wasn’t up to Championship and was talking to clubs without permission , Dike was out of our price rang , Val went for the money , Murphy went for more money , let’s not rewrite history
What the 80% lot don’t like and will not tolerate, is folk who know how to run a football club, telling them how to run a football club.
It's easy to forget how poor Murphy was at the outset and how he too went into hiding for a fair few months before he re-emerged and seemed quite transformed from then on in. I very much agree with the sentiment of what the owners fail to value. They seem to put considerable stock in inexperience and low value. Hoping to apply some form of alchemy. Yet if you look at the success they've had for their decisions, and not what they inherited, it looks pretty grim.
Hasn’t it always been Our ‘selling point’ to players and staff alike that if you come here we won’t stand in your way if you want to leave, be it progression or sideways step. Perhaps if we didn’t have this‘ selling point’ we wouldn’t attract them in the first place?
Agreed. It's not the selling that's the problem, it's the replacements. Accepting a good offer on your Rolls Royce is all well and good, but nobody in their right mind then goes off and spends the money on a dozen Vauxhall Corsas.
You really believe that they supported Stendel in terms of competitiveness in the Championship? Really? And you believe the Huddersfield Town story? Really? How about the one where we were going to sue a Scottish club? The people in charge are about as believable as the shower running the country. In my opinion only, of course.
Opinions, eh? I hold Dane in the same high regard I hold Conway. A showman when the mood took him. Invisible all other times.
Stated to who, the public at large you mean? Because it’s always been obvious that this is the case, and I’ve read in the past where players have said BFC would not stand in their way
A conspiracy theorist would argue that a promotion in the following season would have been preferred. On paper, Stendel cost the 80%ers several million pounds - although they've since fathomed a way out of that particular hole, starting with an installment of £750k.
Exactly. It's the scattergun recruitment policy that's at fault. We've signed loads of cheap, poor quality players when we should have signed less number but better quality. Plus we should recruit with a style of play and area of field required in mind, not just recruitment for the sake of it and then try to cobble them into a team.
We’ll never know the facts. What the owners say doesn’t matter. There’s only one way they will be judged. It’s on the badge. Spectemur Agendo.
