If there are people in the background who are genuinely considering a bid or putting serious thought into it then that facebook group are not their social network representatives that’s for sure. if someone comes forward it won’t be announced by tykes tv first.
Got to laugh yes some random person on a Facebook makes a comment and the whole group are tarred, its been no different on here but it comes across as Holier than thou ! We need unity whether you want PMG to stay or not, i don't they are killing the club! I am a member of the group and its getting the benefit of doubt till i see the credibility of the alternative. Until then I reserve my right to not be happy and protest and that won't change until these Charlatans are gone
Exactly mate, I don’t agree with how it was initially handled but to me it’s pretty harmless to see where this now goes, if something comes out of then fantastic, I’d love to be shut of these owners but if not then we’re in a no worse position, I’m quite happy to keep open minded.
Whilst probably not quite as extreme as on Facebook, it is getting increasingly like that on here though. I made a post a few months ago where I basically said that despite your opinions on the ownership, the worst thing we can do is turn on each other as fans. That for me is when I start to lose interest in both contributing on here, and following the football club. I'm not happy with the way the club is being run, however I don't agree with the notion that the ownership are deliberately trying to run us into the ground as some believe. I think a lot of the displeasure being voiced is quite knee jerk, based on us having the worst season in living memory. I understand the frustration. But what I don't understand, is the amount of rumour, misinformation and jumping to conclusion that's flying around. Not just on here, but on Facebook (and then being shared on here). One minor example is that, according to someone on Facebook, Khaled had said in his interview with you, that we aren't spending in this window in order to save for the league 1 budget next season. This was followed by a raft of 'we've accepted relegation' type comments. When I listened to your (fantastic) Q&A session with him, he didn't say anything of the sort. I think what I'm getting at is, it's becoming increasingly difficult to be a part of any Barnsley FC related social media if you're not firmly in the 'Conway out' brigade. We all want what's best for the club, but for some of us, that isn't the uncertainty of new ownership. This type of toxicity is what made me come off Facebook, then twitter, and now I'm off Instagram, and posting on here fleetingly. I generally try and stay out of the football chat (on a football forum), because it's getting increasingly difficult to have a different opinion.
Agree with virtually everything you’ve put here. My post wasn’t suggesting it was something that only happened in the Facebook group, it’s just that the FB group is what we were talking about. You’ll know I’ve talked about being labelled or pigeon holed for years now, and tend to always say that the truth or feeling is likely to be somewhere in the middle. Also know what you mean on inaccuracies of the Q&A questions. But how many times can you correct people who are essentially spreading misinformation? And why would you bother doing that when all it does is strengthen their opinion that you’re ‘on the payroll’ or a ‘club mouthpiece’. This notion that supporters are happy with what’s going on right now is horseshit. To pick up on another comment, it isn’t a holier than thou attitude, I think it’s more that comments coming one way are pretty aggressive and feel personal, whereas the return isn’t personal and more about the group’s motive or plan of action. Those are two very different types of criticism. The personal attacks need to be stopped ASAP wherever they’re coming from, and the focus needs to be kept on the real grievance - which is the running of the football club.
That’s seems to me to be the problem with what I’ve read on that site, if you’ve not closed your mind to many of the posters way of thinking, you’re a collaborator, which of course is absolute none sense. Also, and like I’ve previously posted, when one of the moderators, and someone who is at the forefront of this campaign starts to like posts that make derogatory remarks about another fans forum and most of it’s posters then it makes it difficult to get onboard
I reckon this past couple of weeks if nothing else has demonstrated (pardon the pun) that we would be far from being united as a group of fans towards a common cause.
