I’ve little problem with the OP on the Facebook thread. It goes a bit daft with the conspiracy stuff in the final para, but the point about anyone defending the current Owners causes me no problems. If we still have fans who take that line, then they are IMHO deluded to the extent of accepting the damage being done to the Club.
Ok so the numbers don't matter according to you but as for the rest of my post all you've done is continue with the point scoring. Oh they've rubbished my Q&A session with the Swedish human shield as for the bit about the posts being abusive I've seen posts on here be abusive and nothings been done so maybe people in glass houses etc etc. Look all I said was maybe the trust should ask to speak to this interested party in a private and confidential way to try and find out if it is genuine or not.
Or, just maybe, the Trust should be saying publicity that they have no confidence in the current Board. What would it take to get to that stage?
I think you miss the point. Fans aren’t defending the current owners. They are merely rubbishing the silly stuff being said about them. Yes they’ve sleepwalked into relegation and have made some seemingly poor decisions. They’ve also kept the fans in the dark. But what really is the alternative? Some Karen’s on Facebook pretending to be people they’re not? Not exactly the next billionaire owners who’ll pump the millions required into the club.
Please point me in the direction of any abusive posts. That shouldn't be happening but I honestly haven't seen any. We asked to speak with this group the night before the Q&A but were told to 'prove ourselves'.
I think the point is that anyone who doesn't feel as strongly as they do is defending the owners. In the mind of that poster and the others replying to it. Saying you have an opinion that doesn't think £1.2m is something we could, or should, spend on a head coach doesn't mean you're excusing them. I've seen almost zero support for the new owners on the BBS, Facebook, or Twitter. Yet some people who are passionate about the Conway Out campaign suggest it's there and suggest it derogatorily with a pinpoint on posters on here.
Ah, I see. As Mrs T said, “there is no alternative” therefore we have to accept that the current owners should remain until we’ve tied someone down to a contract to take over. Interesting line. Can I profess the opinion? I don’t agree. Any pressure on the current shambolic leadership, which may put pressure on them to announce their intention to leave, or put the Club up for sale, is, in my opinion, a good thing. It may seem a bit simplistic but, I’ll accept that level of progress before worrying, at this stage, who may take over.
Well we never put an announcement like that out when were being relegated from the Championship in previous years, so I guess the next step is trying to put some of the questions that are unanswered to Paul Conway, and then you wait for the accounts in March (or when they're due). Also need to see the January Window slam shut. We've been rubbish in this division before so I think there's still a huge section of the supporter base that would be nervous about backing something, Trust or Facebook led, that doesn't have an alternative as to what that means and doesn't give further clarity on some of the issues still up in the air. If, and a big if, we've put to bed the moving from Oakwell discussions, and we have the West Stand open permanently again, the biggest non-playing issue is the £750k. Which is a huge one. Other than that it's a complete failure over the Summer in the key moments and it's resulted in us likely being relegated. Doesn't excuse it but that then becomes the reason for wanting them to sell.
Eh, I’m not defending any of the FB fools who are slagging off the BBS by suggesting we’re all quasi supporters of the current ownership - unlike a few on here incidentally who have been rather quick to condemn everyone on the FB site as a whole bunch of naive fools. However, if you don’t think there are posts on the BBS still defending the Owners, then we’re looking at different sites. The issue of the £1.2m required to get in a descent Championship Coach is frankly, CEO nonsense, and should be put into the bag marked ‘distractions to throw at the fan base’.
We must be. Or I'm just forgetting them. Or they're more explanations or thoughts rather than outright defences? It's probably me missing it/not reading it properly. One things for sure, I've spent too much time on this site over the last seven days.
I’m sure we have some common ground here but I’m unclear as to where it is. 1. The principal issue is not ‘being rubbish in this Division’ it’s the incompetence of the ownership. That requires sorting before we can progress in any meaningful way imo. 2. I think you and I are just going to have to disagree as to how long this issue has been around. You seem to believe it’s to do with this season - primarily the farce that was the Summer (fair enough). I think it’s been around for 4 seasons. 3. You appear to want to see the ‘alternative’ to the current ownership before putting any weight behind trying to remove them. I don’t. I think that is unrealistic and is not how football operates. If new owners do come in, they won’t be arranging a meeting with the BBS (or anyone else) to run through their CV.
1. That was a flippant comment because it's nearly 1am. I'm trying to explain that when you strip out the off the field issues and try and resolve them, what you're left with is a team that finished 5th last season and has criminally been ripped to shreds this season to finish bottom (potentially). You might think it's a four year issue, I myself have mentioned two Summers of Paul Conway being acting CEO, but the general supporter base would look at this Summer 2. I'm not sure the issue has been around for that long. When we've had a CEO and Head Coach in tandem it's felt pretty strong. I also give them a little leeway on some of the regular issues mentioned because of Covid 3. Never said I wanted to 'see' the alternative ownership. But I feel like you need to have a plan for what you want to happen next if you're to aggressively pursue the current owners leaving. The current solution to support that people are able to see, is in my mind, too vague. I'd rather focus on holding the owners to account on recent decisions initially and then make a call on more aggressive action 4. To add a fourth. My opinion is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things when it comes to the Trust. If momentum grows within the membership, and more and more comments are online, in person, or sent directly to BFCST, that will influence the urgency of any 'no confidence' message. At the moment there's frustrations, but it's not a majority in terms of 'get them out'
Well, I can’t quibble with the reasonableness of that post, even if we’re not aligned on some of the issues. But, as you say 1am. Probably best to leave it for another day.I’m grateful for the update on The Trust.
What does that entail....cooking and eating roadkill and rubbing slit wrists together whilst having one trouser leg rolled up?
No idea off the top of my head in terms of members. We've got a far larger database than we had a few years ago as we encouraged more people to join with the free membership when we started Redfearn's Bar. I 'think' it used to only be a paid membership option right back at the start.
The current CEO in the Q&A stated as his achievement since coming to the club, chicken flatbreads, nachos and new grills. To answer a set of questions he had been sent prior to the interview he had few direct answers and in most cases suggested you spoke to the owners. In other parts he thought 5,000 season tickets would bring in £500k of revenue. He didn’t know how much the West stand repairs had cost. That the best way to contact him was through a letter and he wasn’t even sure if we had made money through transfer dealings. What level of incompetence would it take for fans to want a change of ownership as our current CEO appears to be more of a food and beverage manager? It’s very late, I’ve had a drink but it’s is high time this shower sold up and moved on. I simply think they had an idea, based on the notion of data, and sold that to investors. It simply is not working. Couple that with the rhetoric, duplicity and incompetence it’s time for a change. Their equity value is dwindling by the day, the only assets in the club are player registrations which are also plummeting, if there is a willing buyer all they need to do is sit and wait. With the prospect of operating losses next year these current owners will not be keen to throw more cash in to support their initial investment. Who knows they could always blame Brexit as a UK based team no longer fits with their European multi-club approach.
Generally what ends up happening is the ordinary folk get persecuted by both sides and when the resistance win they split into smaller groups and carry on fighting each other.
