Great setup there. We went to the Scunthorpe game where it was 6-0 at half time. One blessing getting relegated would be Harrogate and Forest Green Rovers away.
Doubt Harrogate will get promoted, they've dropped off the pace recently. Season after next we might get to play them though.
Popped I to see Wombwell Town v Sheffield Medics (Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior) with Mrs Hough. Good, honest game of grassroots football, loads of effort, a (little) bit of skill, friendly banter, late winner. All-out could want really!
I went as well it was very interesting watching some of those tackles, and the poor lad running the line on main stand side got some stick but just laughed.
I were going go but something cropped up last minute so went to Ponte Colls, my luck to miss a 3-0 win.
I went to Hallam FC vs Harrogate Railway. It was a strange game which was very tight and had chances at both ends, but Hallam put theirs away and ran out 5-1 winners. I've never seen a game as tight have such a one sided scoreline. Top of the league with a game in hand. They're regularly getting over 600 fans a game now, 4 times the number of 4 years ago. They've opened a 2nd turnstile, can take card payments on the gate, opened up a 2nd bar, and are due to extend their 'Shed End'.
Me and the boy are off to Athersley Rec next Saturday. Gave him a list of matches including Reds at home, which was dismissed by him quickly. He’s a massive Red and we’re season ticket holders, which shows where we’re at I think! Been to a couple of games at Worsbrough Bridge this season and really enjoyed them. I like to put a few quid in the coffers if the local non league teams and haven’t been to Rec in ages. Although it might be a familiar experience looking at the league table.
