Interesting that minority owner Dean Hoyle has had to pump millions back into the club a few months ago to save to save them from going into administration. So what it says to me is that Phil Hodgkinson (majority owner) is basically skint (not that he was wealthy to start with!). In addition, some town fans are still asking where the parachute money has gone! Like it takes a genius to figure that one out. Some interesting times coming up for Huddersfield fans! Also rumours that former Ipswich owner Marcus Evans may be looking at a takeover. A guy that took Ipswich to L1 and forced big Mick out of the club!!
In charge approx 14 years. First few years they were a solid championship side but never reached the PL under his ownership. Last few years he slashed the budget significantly to reduce costs, gave big Mick a really difficult job in trying to keep them up. Fan protects droves him out the club.
His 14 years in charge ending in 2021 so he owned them since 2007...... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...h-Town-League-One-club-bought-consortium.html The best they did was one play off season out of 14 seasons and that was under McCarthy...... https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ipswich-town/platzierungen/verein/677 His choice of managers were so bad like Roy Keane getting a chance based off his playing days and choosing someone with a Norwich connection in Paul Lambert. They got relegated from the Championship with an horrible points total. Ipswich has always been an expensive place compared to most to watch that standard of Football. Evans let the club off with 80 million pounds they owed him which shows what a reckless owner he was to gamble so much money the club didn't have..... https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/funds-behind-itfc-takeover-revealed-7890950 He makes our 80% owners look like decent businessmen which takes some doing. As for Huddersfield most people think the owner used the Premier League two seasons and parachute payments to buy the club, hence them being skint already when their two seasons in the top flight should have set them up for many years to come.
The same fans that were sick of mick and treading water in the championship and wanted mick gone? Evans taking over at huddersfield looks like a good move for them like you say the bloke at the minute is skint.
Im not saying he is a good owner but if the man in charge at Huddersfield is so skint dean hoyle the ex owner is having to put money in to save them from administration it could be a better option. And im saying the ipswich fans wanted mick gone when he was there. Whats your opinion on our owners?
Leveraged buyouts. The new owner buys the club with no money. Borrows against the assets or strips them to pay off the old owner. Simple answer in football but the fa and/or the league demand anyone buying a club lodge a bond with them first, say £10,000,000 in championship. If the club goes into administration the bond is lost.
