Does the BBS not have a copy function? So rather than move, copy threads into another area. And then by all means create as many as anybody wants. But leave them in the main forum. Pleases both worlds then
Nothing to stop you talking about it here. But if people are wanting something new to watch, they can pop along there and see a star rating and a brief guide.
Am I the only one who has no idea what this thread is about? I can’t see a separate tv thread EDIT Found it. I’d never have known it existed
What? Surely you know that the one you posted in yesterday was moved. You specifically said something like 'this should be in the TV shows forum' and then it was moved and you continued to post in it in the TV shows forum
I don't think so. I just think an over zealous admin decided they want to format the bbs into strict sections and took his suggestion and ran with it. 9:44pm: Marc: 'pop it in the TV shows section' 9:46pm *alert* Your thread Dexter: New Blood; anyone watched it? *Spoilers included* was moved to a different forum. Quite why anyone would think it's a good idea for a spoiler laden post to be the first post in the recommendation directory is beyond me. Anyone reading it has had the show ruined for to them.
Agreed. Spoilers are sh!te. I suppose, as someone who watches only a limited amount of television, having a catalogue of recommendations on hand sounds ok to me. It might give me ideas that wouldn't otherwise occur to me. But I don't see it as an alternative to the main bulletin board, more like something to compliment it, where the board remains an in-depth discussion-based place, and the TV Shows section is just a simple list - but with the advantage that the suggestions listed don't disappear down to page 50 within a week or two. I can't remember who set it up, but I very much doubt that it was intended to be the thin end of the wedge, so I'd be surprised (and probably as cross as you seem to be) if we suddenly had different boards for music, politics, etc.
Oh as a simple directory with recommendations I'd completely agree with you. When a thread specifically containing spoilers which was for discussion and actually titled 'for anyone who has seen dexter....' it seems very thin end of the wedgish to me. Andytyke does have previous for trying to force people to discuss topics where he wants them. Politics forum, matchday threads, moving comments that didn't comply etc. Simply as recommendations I think TV shows is the most pointless to be honest. There are already many sites out there that do exactly this and with more information and accurate ratings too. If we are going down that route surely a directory of local tradesmen would be moe beneficial to local people
No, not just you. I started reading it, and it seemed to be making perfect sense, but then my flaky internet connection just sudd
