Evening all! Following the reopening of the west stand, I've been contacted by the club to sort out how the maintenance of the big flag is going to be carried out from now on. I'm not going to be there on Saturday but the great Whitey and his mates will see to it, then after that I'm away anyway for all of February and again later in the season. As a result we need a volunteer or two to agree to look after the flag for the reminder of this season, and probably for next season too. My friend Lucy has been involved and done loads with it, but as she's an SLO she has lots of other duties before and after matches, so it's not fair to leave it all on her shoulders. The flag stays in its place in the unused part of the west stand, and is currently covered by a tarpaulin in between games to protect it from the weather and stop it fading any more. The job is to uncover it before matches, by rolling back the tarpaulin and straightening the flag out by re-tensioning its fastenings, then covering it up again after the match. You'll get a pass from Beth to access the unused bit of the west stand, but you'll have to leave and go to your normal seat well before kick off. After the match you'll need to go back and cover it up again. In the summer the flag will need cleaning and probably repairing - in the past I've paid the cost for this but Mrs Cryne has very kindly offered to cover this cost in the future, so nobody will be out of pocket. If anyone would like to take this on, please either post on here, send me a PM, or contact Whitey or Beth at the club. Cheers all.
Thank you, I've sent you a PM with my number so we can get it sorted. The benefit of this for you is that you get to meet Beth and of course @YTBFC .
Thanks all, I do understand that not everyone will have time to do this, but so far @thetykester has very kindly offered to help out, so we've probably got it covered for now.
Sorry mate, I've only just seen this, I'm happy to help out, just let me know. I won't be about after the end of March/beginning of April as Anne and I will be off to Europe in the motorhome for 3 months...
Cheers mate, I'll keep you up to date on things once we've sorted the Bournemouth match, much appreciated.
