    "We don't belive Herbie Kane is good enough for the championship and is no better then the midfielders we already have"

    "We're down anyway so may aswell let Oxford pay him, could be useful next season in league one"

    This deal would only make sense if the current midfield were playing well (they certainly aren't) and weren't the worst performing midfield in the championship (they clearly are) or alternatively the recruitment team have lined up deals to sign two or three proven championship midfielders who will come straight into our midfield and improve it (i won't hold my breath on that one).
    So it seems it's a mind numbingly stupid decision to make to pass over the chance of bringing back into the squad a player currently playing well to at least put pressure onto players who currently aren't.

    The first half of the last point is probably the closest. I don't expect him to play for us again though, club will be hoping that he carries on doing well and attracts a fee in the summer. Especially if he's on any sort of meaningful salary.

    Except he's under contract and he can't refuse to come back (if he wants to carry on his career as a professional footballer). It's purely financial.

    We don't know who is coming in during January. I'm not going too apoplectic because I'm resigned to relegation anyway. I'd rather the club not waste money. If balancing the books secures the clubs future until these owners get bored I'm o.k with it.
