This is the 2021 version of the historic ‘Most people are a bit racist like me, it’s you snowflakes that are in the minority’. It’s an assertion borne of existing in an echo chamber with no data to back it up. Most people I speak to had already decided to rein in the Christmas celebrations, had started travelling less and wearing masks more without the government asking them to.
I suppose we all have our different social circles. Most people I know are just carrying on as normal. The many nights out from the factory where I work have gone on as normal. Most people i speak to are firmly against further restrictions. But that may just be the company I keep.
Exactly my point. I’m not stupid enough to assert that ‘most people will …’ based on what I know isn’t a representative sample. You only had to read this board on Friday to see that: Some people weren’t going to the game because they didn’t feel it was safe to do so. Some people weren’t going because they objected to the restrictions being put in place. Some people had other social engagements But importantly - loads weren’t going cos it was gonna be sh it. The truth then - unless you’re really digging under the skin of an issue with targeted questions, it’s stupid to make an assumption that you’re in the majority.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...split-new-Covid-curbs-demand-information.html Another reason to not bring in extra restrictions. If people didn't need to go to hospital with something else, they wouldn't have ever known they had covid. Half. Of. Them.
Yes most people are against more restrictions as in the government after how they have behaved time and time again telling us what we should do, which is different to people choosing through personal responsibility what they want to do. It's all about choice and that's how it should stay.
An interesting play on the figures by the Daily Mail. When they say "half" they mean 40% for starters and then when you get further down the article, it is admitted that 963 of the 1,248 in hospital in London on 14 December "were there because of the virus" and this is "the latest date available". That's actually more like 23% who went to hospital with something else.
le sigh. You realise the modelling is based on if we do nothing. So we have introduced measures which limit uptick. This is such very basic stuff

I suspect he’s confusing communism with fascism. Complete polar opposite like, but I wouldn’t let little details like that get in the way of things
That and as we now know the modelling is also based on a worse case scenario, so was probably unlikely to begin with.
