Apologies; I believe it’s a suitable response to respond to the implausible with light sarcasm. Unless you can convince me that you have a lifetime studying virology, I’d rather listen to the people who have. Im not suggesting that lockdowns are without their own problems, or that our government have managed this well. But I’ve never seen an actual ‘expert’ with a better plan.
another winning link. For clarity the Telegraph is idiotic far right propaganda. Johnson calling it irreversible was stupid as anyone with even the vaguest idea of virology would tell you.
I don't think a good plan does exist, despite all our attempts here we are again staring into another potential lockdown. How long do we continue this cycle of suffering for? I don't think i suggested a implausible approach because I didn't suggest one. I simply acknowledged the damage the current approach has caused.
But you’re pretending that there’s only one scientific opinion. There clearly isn’t. There are many, many well qualified scientists who don’t agree with lockdowns. I could just as easily make the facile argument that an elderly man living in the HIV capital of the U.K. thinks he knows better than the leading professor in evidence based medicine at the world’s greatest university, but I don’t because it would be a petty and frankly juvenile line of argument.
Well if that is an example of your understanding of health statistics; I think we can all conclude your opinion on these matters is worth 9/10s of 4/5s of fc uk all.
Again; the case for lockdowns in a decent country should also come with proper support for those affected. Being in support of lockdowns does not equal being in support of this government nor does it equate to a desire to trash the economy. It’s been stated by me and many others; the countries that have managed the spread of covid best are the same as the countries that have the least damaged economies. It’s not the internationally recognised methods for stopping the spread of an airborne virus that is messing up peoples lives, it’s the implementation of those measures by the worst government of my lifetime.
For anyone interested in the actual science of Omicron, Dr. John Campbell is posting excellent updates on YouTube
In the same way there are ‘many’ scientists who don’t accept the evidence for man made global warming.
A little unrelated but I didn't want to start a new thread apparently this is genuine. I thought some of the language used by our officials was bad!
You sure that’s genuine? Or did you get it from Casual Tyke? here’s what the actual page looks like: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing...n-variants-as-we-battle-covid-19-this-winter/
What? You mean a set of crank ‘scientists’ bucking the trend and saying something you agree with is completely different to a set of crank scientists bucking the trend and saying something you know is nuts. Of course it is.
I thought I would share a link to the entire press release, rather than just an extract of one paragraph. https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing...response-team-and-public-health-officials-74/
Do ordinary lateral flow tests pick up Omicron. I've had all three jabs and done seven tests over the last couple of weeks all come back negative but my chest feels lousy. I was up all last night with a cough I can't shake.
I think it's meant to. I'm in the same boat. had a cough for weeks. tested to the hilt, lateral and PCR, all negative. chest x-ray all clear, went back to the docs and he gave me some nuclear strength nasal spray, which seems to have done the trick.
Mate been the same for 2 weeks now, all tests negative. There was a report a few weeks ago pending peer review, that stated Omicron was showing signs of eluding tests. Had a proper hacking loose cough, had strong cough medicine and used vapour rub. Seems to be going but slowly. My little un has brought back from school so many lurgies in the past 2 months. 2 colds, this cough and Norovirus. So much for the promised ventilation in class rooms. Also had heartburn with this cough, the better half has been the same. All very weird, both of us never suffer with it. Last time I suffered with it was during the start of my long Covid symptoms.
