LBD have beautifully and simply exposed so many seriously major problems with this Government, yet for reasons I just don’t understand, it doesn’t seem like any of their campaigns have really had any kind of impact. It’s almost like they’re viewed as some kind of satirical group, that are just having a bit of a laugh.
It really should provoke outrage, but it doesn’t seem to. People will just have a bit of a chuckle, then retire back to today’s Telegraph.
I spent the weekend with a paramedic; to suggest that the current situation is a construct of the media or the government is nonsense. He has some horror stories as to the current situation and that’s from somewhere that the official stats aren’t even troubled about.
I don't doubt that for a second. But it's completely fair to take aim at the media and the government when they've been so vocal about their predictions, used such emotional language, and so many times been wrong. Has it been an awful time? Absolutely. For those working on the front line, for those who've lost loved ones, and for many with broken families, ruined businesses, children with mental health issues, and those desperate to be seen by a doctor/hospital. What was the Javid comment yesterday? 200,000 cases a day? Corrected online, but not seen by anywhere near as many as who heard him speak it out loud. Anyway, the discussion was about 'the noise' that was a lot more than noise, not for a second hinted that it's been an easy ride for anyone.
If the don’t want to get vaccinated you can always take a test. It is in no way mandatory despite what Sharon on Facebook tells them.
If you can supply an alternative in the form of a test please state how anything is being forced on anyone (NHS excepted)
Meanwhile, in more interesting news. A 80 year old Tortoise nurturing her recent ‘clutch’ of babies. Is ‘clutch’ the correct term.? Will bow to the greater scientific knowledge, prevalent here..
Pic of the day! Better than reading about Boris's Boaster jabs, the fat, lying, lazy, useless and combless blonde turd.
I was intrigued and had to Google it. They're called a Creep: https://peteducate.com/what-is-a-group-of-tortoises-called/ BTW. Awesome photo. I didn't realize they had so many little 'uns at one time.
My initial reaction was that turtles lay thousands of eggs, so tortoises must be similar. But apparently 6-10 is typical so this looks unusually high. Every day and all that
Looking at the press conference last night, and scanning the papers this morning, I strongly suspect that we would have been heading for more severe restrictions in the face of the way Omicron is growing if it hadn't been for Johnson's weak position. The comments and body language from Chris Witty looked to me as though he would have preferred to tighten things up. But because of Johnson's weakness we are probably going to have to wait until things take a turn for the worse before further precautions are put in place. Busy nightclubs and large crowds at football and other sports look a crazy thing to permit to me, given the current signs. And I'd have pubs and restaurants back to table service and distancing without delay until the Omicron threat fades.
Closure by stealth. Covid passes that last 2 days (wtf is that about, if you're fully vaxxed?). And try getting a lateral flow test in town, might as well whistle dixie.
