Just listened to it. Its the first time ive heard a player who was actually in the dressing room confirm the 'cat' story. Where we're losing 1-0 at HT. So Morais gets down on all fours prowling round like a meowing cat. Says that's how we're playing, like cats. Then turns into a growling, roaring tiger and says that's how we should be playing. Like Mills says I think I'd have been pis s ing myself aswell.
Whilst that is funny, it's worth mentioning that Mills was absolutely sheite. I nearly burst a blood vessel when he put one over from about a yard at Loftus Road in Hecky's last game.
My abiding memory of Matt Mills is him perfectly bisecting the distance between 2 reds players with an easy 20 yard pass which flew straight into the lower West Stand. At least in them days there was someone to throw it back.
I cant remember any of his performances tbh. Had a great career though. Probably came to us when he was past it by the sounds.
Thanks for this. He talks about it from 1hr 40 til the end, so last 4 mins or so. From what i skimmed through rest, I got the impression he seemed to know better than the managers quite a bit, or have i just been unlucky with what ive heard??
The impression I got (and he mentioned it a good few times) is that he liked proper leadership. Didn't like slack managers who would let players off with murder. Liked authority and discipline. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. Also said he doubts anyone he played with likes him. Was very honest and it was a good listen.
He achieved more away from Football by having a long term relationship with Emma Rigby back in the day.
