At the last game I attended three streets around the ground were coned off and attended by stewards,
I asked the stewards present who had ordered the closure, they told me it was BFC.
As I understand it closures can be requested legally, but that each closure costs over £1k and required notice has to be posted.
The owners paying £3k x 23 (home games) may seem unlikely, I could be wrong of course...are they doing this on the fly and ignoring the law?
I'm asking this as a genuine question, are they following due procedure and paying BMBC.. or not...does anyone know?

Beevor Court gate was open before and after the Hudds game. Barriers and security on Pontefract Road but nobody stopping people walking up to the ground.

No idea about why or who?!? But I live 2-300 yards away from the Mount. We hadn't had a home game for weeks (international break) and on the day we've got a local Darby with 1000s of away fans attending they start to dig Pontefract Road up and cone off one side ?!?

I do get it maybe essential works but I'm guessing it isn't as nobody was even working on it yesterday afternoon when I walked past.

Been past 4 times today and not seen a soul working. Looks like they've dug a hole then left it. Three way traffic lights as well so let's hope they fill it in before next week.

Maybe it's the latest wheeze to delay still further the Market Gate Mirage bridge?

Well considering it’s part of the Matchday safety group plan, which also involves the council and other stakeholders, I’d suggest BMBC know all about it and procedures are followed.

In regards costs, as it is a planned and scheduled event, then I imagine fees will be agreed at a significant discount. I’m pretty sure BFC have a planning notice submitted for it, renewed every 3 years.

Fees are charged to stop people closing roads off without real need, and also to cover costs of admin and publication details of it.

I can answer that CS. The Shamrock Showband were appearing in the Mount and one of the audience asked if they do something typically Irish!

It seems to be sheer lunacy. We've never needed this before and it seems one closure displaces traffic to cause another problem somewhere else. Shutting the slip road off Harborough hills is a particularly bad idea. Away fans who want to get to the car park now have to go to the Alhambra roundabout then Pontefract road and up to the ground that way, picking their way through our fans walking up the hill to the game. It was bedlam with the Derby fans who thankfully appeared fairly good-humoured, despite (or possibly because) it becoming apparent they were going to miss kick-off. Someone getting run over or a clash seem inevitable though. I'd love to know the logic for this

I'd also love to know the logic of shutting that sliproad off when surely due to the bridge being closed there should be much lower numbers of pedestrians in that area. Instead they've forced more pedestrians and more cars to converge down the side of the Alhambra. Fécking bonkers.

Closing beaver court makes zero sense l. It just doesn't. They can argue it as much as they want but it just doesn't. It's completely the opposite side of the stadium to the hospital or the police station, it's as far away as possible from vehicle access I to the stadium, it is at the most congested point of Pontefract road. It is just illogical. But then I don't think it was thought through at all, I think it was just the easiest and quickest option 'oooo there's a road there. That'll do'

I could devise better traffic management for Oakwell in my sleep. It's embarrassing really

Are you suggesting BFC can just close any road they want, when they want?

You do know BMBC, SYP, SYF&R and other stakeholders form part of the Safety Advisory Group? The same as any club in the country?

Sorry DT, that's not really an answer...this is not a trick question ... I was asking you a genuine question....I wondered if you had factual information or were you just surmising that this was the situation?
Factual is fine but are you sure about this?

The Safety Advisory Group is fact.

The road closure system is fact - although I believe due to it being ongoing, it’s actually under a planning consent, which is periodically renewed. You could search the planning explorer for it.

I’ve no idea about the actual reasoning behind each particular road closure though, and why it has to be closed - I don’t think that actual data is published. It just falls under generic safety and crowd control.

    A quick Google:
