Not exactly a s**t or bust substitution is it? I'd have gone Cole for Aaron Hondermark for Palmer Vic for Cauley. I didn't know at the time that Vic wasn't going to get involved at all today.
The twitter feed described it as one last throw of the dice. What were the media team playing...Craps?
It wasn't a last throw of the dice it was to make sure we didn't concede. Styles was out on his feet so it made complete sense to take him off l
I beg the question & it is genuine one , did Vic ever have the ball at his feet ?, I didn"t actually see him get a touch while he was on but one of my Grandsons said he had a couple & I believe him but I did not see them .
Styles was blowing out of his arse as the game went on. The ball came to Collins at one point late on and I've never seen out like it Collins telling players to move nut some especially styles seemed too knackered to get up the pitch. Rightly subbed.
I take your word , I did not see him with the ball at his feet once & never saw him make a pass , but now they have shoved us by the corner flag in the east stand my view is a lot more restricted than it was from the half way line on the west .
On today's performance. The substitution of Palmer was way too late. I don't know about not being able to play 90 minutes. On today's performance 20 more like. Gave up chasing players down. Fell down too easily. Wasted nearly every ball. Heart as big as a pea. Needs resting. And put on a stamina course. I would try Cauley in midfield ( one thing he doesn't lack is energy) and Cole up front. With Iseka and Morris.
I thought Palmer played ok today and That Gomes should have gone off instead. A cardboard cut-out would have been as beneficial as Benson to bring on though.
Palmer was decent for mine until 60 minutes when his battery ran out as usual - can't they do something about this? I'd have preferred Hondermarck to Benson though. Iseka wasn't at his best after illness and so couldn't really grumble about him coming off either though Vic's effort was truly abysmal and Cole ought to have been ahead of him. The last sub was totally baffling unless Styles had an injury. In the Richie Benaud playbook of 'do what you think the opposition least wants' it scores 0 so maybe that was it and Poya was just trying to come up with the footballing equivalent of a 'Pointless Answer'.
