    When they'd made the main draw, they then had a separate draw to determine which pairing in each pathway would get a home final.
    Wales/Austria, Russia/Poland and Portugal/Turkey had the luck of the draw.

    Yeh I agree. Just a team that was always in major competitions and doing well when I was growing up. Forgot to mention France as well!

    Yeah I guess we English can be terrible in some but at least we tend to make them. The Dutch were one I grew up with too, likes of Gullitt in his prime etc.

    I hope Italy qualify. Always had a soft spot for them since I found a Birthday card with Dino Zoff on it holding the World Cup aloft. I asked my Dad why he's kept it with him hating the Itais. He told me that was the last Birthday card your Grandma Elsie gave me before she died.

    Missed out in 2002, and again in 2018.

    Didn't they miss Euro 2016, too?

    It makes me sad, because their national anthem is very subversive - along with those of Uruguay, and Montenegro, it's one of the best around.

    Yep you're right. I assumed I was thinking of a Euros too.

    I do like the Dutch, apart from Max Verstappen :D

    Wouldn’t be so sure on the Italy v North Macdonia game.

    Drew 1-1 last time they met and they had a great victory in Germany earlier this year

    Looks easy on paper but we all know football isn’t quite like that
