Drove down tonight and there's roadworks at the junction which extends past Oakwell Lane. There's traffic light control meaning traffic coming down Oakwell Lane has to wait for a gap on Ponte Road depending on whose turn it is. The lights are bang outside Oakwell Sandwich Shop. If they're still there tomorrow night it'll be chaotic. I'd advise anyone thinking of driving in that way to set off early.
It will be the usual Oakwell Lane bedlum tonight. Someone will have to die or be seriously injured before the council do something about it.
We walk down and back up oakwell lane every home game. It's never bedlam for pedestrians. Unless the drivers are lost, or thick I can't understand why anyone would drive on there after a match, traffic can't move any faster than walking pace.
It's not safe for the public. Every single home game you see a near miss on Oakwell Lane. More so at full time with cars trying to get up it far too quickly. It's not helped by people who to pick someone up park on the lines by the houses on the right hand side. Then at the bottom to cross to the food hut is a disaster waiting to happen. I don't know why vehicles would pick to drive so close to a Football stadium when they know thousands of people are around at the time.
So the club car park should be located , where? B.M.B.C. cannot control (to a certain extent) the actions of some idiot drivers/pedestrians, or blamed.
7.25pm and they're trying to close the road off at the bottom of Grove Street, the only designated access to the club car park. I've had to argue with the young lad, who in fairness will only be following instructions, to be permitted through to the car park for which I've prepaid. Who has made that decision 20 mins before kick off? It's an utter pain in the backside getting to the match most of the time now.
