Media and giving out wrong and misleading information. Yesterday and this morning both BBC and Sky were reporting that the brave taxi driver got suspicious of his passenger. Drove to a hospital car park, stopped and got out of his car locking his passenger in while he escaped. Not quite. Video footage just released proves the car coming to a halt at a hospital car park then exploding. The driver then manages to stumble out and gets assistance from a member of the public. At no point did the unfortunate and brave driver lock anyone in the car. This was just a made up piece of fantasy from unworthy journalists. My point here is why do news outlets not double check stories before putting them out? Hopefully the taxi driver is fine and will not suffer any lasting side effects of this dreadful event.
Just playing devils advocate without knowing the full story myself. Could he have locked the car from the inside as most cars have a button on dash or drivers door to lock the car etc. meaning the reports are correct?
Well news reports had the car blowing up after the driver had made an exit. This did not happen. The driver was still at the wheel and somehow escaped death by a whisker.
Isn't there a way taxi drivers can switch on a type of "child lock" to the rear doors which prevents people escaping without paying?
Just seen the video. It looks like the driver already knew something was up because he's drove into the hospital grounds very quickly. Perhaps he'd turned in there early to better the chances of him getting treatment if the bomb went off?
I think he must of known something was wrong. Unless of course he usually drives his customers to the hospital in the irrational way he does on the video which would be abit worrying if so.

You see him to the left of the video towards the end talking to what I assume is a nurse so I'm guessing that's where the news broadcasters got their initial information.
Exactly. Amazing how he managed to keep his nerve. Looks fortunate that the hospital was in the vicinity and he managed to get close for like what someone said get treatment if things went badly more wrong.
Laziness mostly I would guess. Last week locally a bus full of kids went into a ditch, early FB reports were it was upside down. Later a local news article said about the bus being overturned, yet the picture they used clearly showed the bus with its left hand side in the ditch!
That was my first thought, i must admit... a house just outside Dewsbury was raided yesterday, and the police seized bomb making equipment there too
His wife has come out and said he was lucky and didn't lock the doors. Looks like the target was the Cathetdral - lot of road works around there at the minute which probably saved lives. Think a page has been set up to donate money so no car will need to be stolen:-/
