how the flip can you stop them? Happens now every few minutes. Have googled this and can't seem to find a solution apart from installing an adblock browser, but it appears much slower than the Youtube app. Is there a way of blocking them on the Youtube app itself? I have Adblock Plus on the phone but it does not block youtube ads at all. Presumably youtube are in total control of this.
It is getting pretty annoying but I have no intention of paying a monthly fee to one of the richest companies in the world.
I know what you mean, but it's a quid a month. Probably the best pound a month I spend, when factoring in just how much irritation it removes from my life.
Download Newpipe. It's a YouTube client with loads of features. Pros: No adverts Download audio and video to your phone Free of charge Regularly updated Pop-up player can be moved round screen. Cons Occasionally glitches out Can't respond to comments Can only read original posts to a video, not subsequent replies to the post. Doesn't do a great job of recommending similar videos. Not available on PC. Not on Play store. I've used it for 2 years now and it's great.
this is how they make their money I'm afraid. it's a bit like saying 'how can I watch itv without seeing those annoying adverts'
Haha! Just shows how much we get shafted! I get spotify for a fiver via student account but should be about 15 quid i think.
They have massively upped the amount of ads though of late and are one of the top 5 richest companies in the world, so it is hardly out of necessity to keep going like it might be for say ITV or Channel 5, which I don't have as much an issue with. Also, much of the content is not even created by them so they profit hugely from it, again unlike your TV comparison.
Well, the reason they are so rich is because they get so many watching their adverts or paying fees. Also, it's unregulated, so they can do what they like, whereas TV adverts are regulated as to how much and what they can show. Vote with your feet.
YouTube might be a very rich company, but it has also done a huge amount for the democratisation of music and video content in the world. Now literally anyone can record their stuff and get it out there, without being at the behest of a record label, distribution company, TV channel etc. As a result, there is loads of very high quality niche content which in days gone by would never have been seen. I think it's absolutely brilliant.
