https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2021/11/barnsley-vs-derby-county-3rd-november-2021-wayne-rooney-reaction Can't knock any of it. Knows they were lucky to go ahead, mentions all their mistakes and doesn't downplay our win. He has took the defeat well.
bbc.... rooney... "As I've said to the players, that's not a reflection of me as a character, I don't expect my team to play that way. I expect a reaction on Saturday." he thinks it's about him....
fair play to him i spose.... maybe you gotta have an ego....... but right now I'd rather have our Joe..
I think if it had been Schopp saying those things about our team, he would have been slaughtered for them regardless.
Rooney has surprised me this season TBH. Great footballer in his younger days, but never really did much at international level. I could not see him becoming a football manager & was surprised he got the Derby gig, but he has showed a bit of class & mettle this season IMO. The result yesterday has left him a mountain to climb & I hope he fails, as we need three below us.
He's acquitted himself very well since becoming the manager, he certainly doesn't need the money so he obviously cares about the game and wants to be involved still. Not many top, top players make it as managers for too long, will be interesting to see if he gets bored or has enough of the pressure and stick from fans which inevitably come.
I'm not a big Rooney fan however if 53 goals in 120 international caps is 'not really doing much at international level' then, as a nation we've probably had about 5 players who've done something......ever.
Nah, I think if he had Rooney's passion and spoke about wanting the players to show more 'aggression, energy and pride for the shirt' I think the fans would've got behind that. All Schopp did was lambast individuals and say 'we're nearly there' every week.
I think the last month, he could have said anything and people would have picked fault, and did. He couldn't do any right for some.
That's true, but I don't think he helped himself and I think the majority would have got behind him if he just showed a bit more passion, a bit less nit-picking towards individual players, and a bit more appreciation towards the fans. But I did feel sorry for him and didn't agree with the witchhunt. Some of the personal comments towards him were disgraceful.
