Away from all the noise about the West Stand and who-did-what-with-whose-money-gate, Joseph taking over for tonight is the most interesting development this season. He has served under both Valerien and Markus, so is well-placed to know what to draw (if anything) from each of their styles. His demeanour on the touchline (especially at Stoke) suggests he is no shrinking violet, so perhaps he will be more in Ismael's mould? He has hinted at tweaking one or two little bits and pieces without giving too much away. One interesting snippet from his Wikipedia entry recounts the time when, while playing for a German third tier side he secretly went for a trial with Vitesse but for confidentiality's sake he played under the name of Joseph Ratzinger. Rot-Weiss Erfurt duly sacked him, thereby undermining the doctrine of Papal infallibility! Anyway, it all throws Wazza (a great football man, despite his many detractors on here) a curve ball for tonight. It should be an interesting, if not classic encounter. Good Luck Your Holiness!
Wasn’t the pope before the Rottweiler something of a footballer in his youth? Anyway as you say all the best Jo. He should be ok cos I can’t make the next 2 games. 6 points nailed on.
It's a strange one for me because under normal circumstances I wouldn't be too bothered about losing the next two matches in order to get the right man. However, we can't afford to waste anymore games for risk of being hopelessly cut adrift so I hope Laumann does get the job because it will mean we're winning matches.
Lauman speaks extremely well. If we get six points from the next two games then I can't see why we'd be in any sort of rush to find someone else, especially if it's achieved by using a coherent system with players in logical positions.
think he was also head cheese of the inquesition..................................... and nobody expects..............................
The job is surely his to win or lose. Two wins this week would make it difficult for the board to keep looking elsewhere.
I know that run of seven defeats was bittersweet. I hope there will be an upturn now the players have gut shut of Schopp. I just wish the board had acted sooner because I don't think it would have been seven defeats then. All in the past. Three hail Mary's.
Hope it works out for JL tonight, for obvious reasons, whether he is in for the short or long haul. If it doesn't work out, i.e. we are getting trounced 5-0 after 70 minutes, then I hope he goes out in style and knocks Rooney into the West Stand with a straight jab. In turn, I hope Rooney gets a three-match ban for entering a restricted area
Wish him all the best. He has the benefit of having worked under both managers. That has to be a plus, both in terms of systems & relationships with the players. I hope he can turn that into 2 wins & us regaining some confidence & getting back in touch with the teams above the bottom 3. It's a big ask undoubtedly.
