From comments made from the players it would seem they have no faith in the manager / head coach. The fans certainly have no confidence in this head coach ,it would appear that the board too must do the only sensible course of action and relieve M Schopp of his duties. I feel sorry for the players who have been drained of confidence due to this incompetent coach and board. If he does not go the East ,West and South stand will be as empty as the West stand.
I feel for the players myself. They made us proud fighting back from 0-3 down and nearly snatching a draw. But Schopp ,I feel, had little to do with it as he stood there showing little emotion . I feel prod too of most of the fans (apart from the fools who lit flares) in the way they got behind the players and clapped them at the end of the game. When we scored a sense of optimism flooded across both players and fans . However I feel now that Schopps time is up and his comments on Radio Sheffield hinted that the return of injured players will bring an upturn in fortune. However his team choices up to now have been baffling and let's be honest- downright wrong. Devante's media comment and Brittains previously tell you how the players feel . This team has not turned from a good side to a bad one in a few months. Leadership is needed by a new headcoach and board before we return to league 1 and it wants doing ASAP . The international break just gone would have been the right time ...
Adam Oxley (@adam3oxley) Tweeted: #BarnsleyFC head coach Markus Schopp says a different Barnsley will come in the next few weeks, with a couple of guys close to returning. When asked about his future, MS says he’ll prepare for the next game the same as previous games. @footballheaven
My goodness, he's not going is he? Paul Conway just wants to torture us some more by keeping this guy in charge! I bet he doesn't want to pay him out (3 year deal) and will leave him in a position in a few weeks where he has no option but to quit.
I’m worried for Mads tbh. We know he’s a confidence player, and I personally don’t think Schopp has an ounce of man management in him.
Thing is, bad appointments happen, every club makes them, so you can forgive them. But to refuse to act when everybody can see that the coach needs to go is unforgivable.
We need to act. The longer we leave things as they are, the calibre of the next manager/head coach goes down
I'm concerned for alot of the players tbh, pretty much a wasted season in development for alot of our young players.
Do we think keeping him on is getting at the council for the ground issues? “If you don’t give us control of the ground we will destroy your tinpot club”
I think it's definitely been used as some sort of argument/leverage, whether it's what you mention I'm not sure. I think it's purely down to money and who pays, let's be honest if it was free to get rid he would have been gone long ago!
" ... with a couple of guys close to returning." However, I won't play them, or if I do, they will be out of position. Also, if they show any aptitude, then they'll be dropped for the following game. On a separate note: Is Remy this season's Clarke? That is, he is on the bench every week, but never gets a sniff of a chance.
I fully expected Schopp to be sacked tonight. I'm astounded he hasn't been. This Board is casually flushing our Championship status down the toilet with their failure to act. We're heading for relegation in a season here there was no earthly reason to fear the prospect. It's inexcusable.
He should have gone after Blackpool. He is destroying the players. The board are a joke. The club is being dismantled. Every bit of the club is being run with zero respect for the fans. A really dark time. Conway & those parasites can do one. I've supported the club since 1974 & this has to be my darkest day as a Reds fan. I've seen some bad days, but this takes the biscuit. We clapped the players at the end. Then booed that hopeless individual. Enough is enough.
Despite there only being one goal in it, and despite us having enough good chances to have won, I feel at an extremely low ebb. The players aren't trying. Helik and Brittain were dreadful. Failing to track back or just jogging back letting your man go is shocking. And for those two I've lost all respect. I don't care how bad the coach is, or how little you respect him and what he's trying to do, you have a duty to the fans to try. You may make an error, you may switch off for a moment, but the least you do when you pull on a BFC shirt is give all you have physically. That's it. That's your contract you have with the fans. Others had bad games but tried. Others have lost confidence and are looking more timid and scared to make a mistake, meaning they make more mistakes, or an extra touch. And fair play to Cole and Iseka who turned the mood with their effort and running, Cole particularly. But shame on the players who didn't try.
