Not getting some experience in there was the poor decision for me. It was obvious what a big hole Alex would leave.
Why not? It was like when hecky loaned mowatt out and had pinnock as 4th choice center back sometimes players just need a manager to show support in them. Surely kane would be better than sticking moon in midfield. At times today we had no midfield.
Just my opinion. I think Kane needed that break from the spotlight and to be able to focus on playing and getting fit. Woth everything that’s gone on with us this Summer, I’m saying you wouldn’t have seen the player. If we’d have carried on playing Mowatt instead of having him on loan, do you think he’d be where he is now? He wouldn’t.
I always thought kane was going to be Mowatt's replacement. If we were to buy a experienced player like for like with mowatt who could do a job in Championship it would be 5million plus wages so not going to happen. We paid 1.2 million for kane he looked like mowatts replacement obviously schopp thought otherwise I'd love to know why he loaned him out and his now playing moon in center midfield.
Nobody knows where mowatt would be hecky played him on the left wing away at Bristol on 1st game of the season so out of position then loaned him out he didn't do much at Oxford really but stendel got the best out of him. Mowatt always had the talent he played 115 championship games for Leeds he just needed a head coach to get his career back on track.
He was also allowed to come back in to the fold a division lower than where he was used to playing, in a team gunning for promotion. It definitely felt like Mowatt, for reasons to be blamed on Hecky or himself, had lost his way a little. The loan did him good. I think the loan will do Kane good.
Oxford fans didn't rate Kane when they got him, said he was carrying a lot of timber, now they rave about him.
I definitely don't think hecky helped playing him out of position then moaning about experience but loaning out the most experienced player we had to play gardner and Williams in center mid. I hope the loan does kane good but looking at our midfield you would have to say it was a mistake loaning him out.
Kane played in under 23s before he left for Oxford was worse than useless totally not bothered, why does everyone think he is now so good, he never broke any pots for us in any game
I imagine that's easier said than done to find a player capable who a other club want to loan out. Benson was meant to be the replacement and people were loving that signing. Don't know if he's injured, got long covid or just not been picked no one knows.
Because we watched the game today and thought surely a player we paid 1.2 million for could do a better job. At times we didn't have a midfield. Thought honermark did well though.
Not sure you do though. He didn’t hit the ground running at Oxford and has grown in to it by playing regularly, at a lower level, to build confidence and fitness. We both know he wouldn’t have had that opportunity here.
I agree, Kane will benefit. Hopefully we will too. However, one player, Moon is being sacrificed here. He’s not ready for what Schopp seemingly expects of him. I believe Kane would have been better equipped at this stage to play in central midfield.
