Is that not once but twice in 4 years they've managed through decisions they've made to turn a winning senario where the club had been successful on the pitch had reconnected with the fan base and had a positive buzz about it into a total basket case within a few months. First time they dismantle Stendals squad then sack him in dubios circumstances second time they don't build on nearly achieving the impossible then confound it by closing a quarter of the ground without considering the loyal fans that sit in it. I'm being kind at only saying twice actually you could argue it's 4 times in their tenure that they've ****** things up when everything seemed on the up at Barnsley FC. I think maybe it's not just the current head coach that's out of his depth.
Don't think it was "dubious circumstances" really, was it. Got caught discussing contracts with another club.
According to the board but yet no complaint made to the EFL about the club Stendal was supposed to be talking to.
I suppose we'll never know the truth either way. The bigger crime at that time was selling Moore to Wigan.
Was it ever factually proven that? Did Stendel ever admit to it? Or was it just another rumour? Genuine question by the way, not been an arse. Whenever I Google Stendel and Huddersfield all that comes up is speculation.
More of an accusation from our board. Which if you consider their transparancy and honesty in office at our place............
Our owners have a tendency to throw threats of legal action around easily, unfortunately it’s a common American business trait. The thing to remember is it is rare it would go to court, it’s more along lines of a negotiating tactic. They are also quick to release snippets to the press for this effect as well. Not a fan personally of it, but it’s the way they work.
For whatever reason, the owners seemed to completely take their eye off the club last season. Things were going great on the pitch, but nothing was done to make the west stand any better while it was closed. The CEO was allowed to run his contract down, with the club seemingly unaware that he was leaving, and the coach that galvanised everyone had a release clause that was always going to be met. There’s no evidence of the club doing anything to try and keep him, or to try and stop WBA from taking any more staff in the summer. They just let an exodus of staff happen. Unforgivable and almost as if they’ve given up after failing to go up last season.
Was it ever factually proven about 90% of stuff that's discussed on here? If it's ok for folk to say that the 80%ers are robbing us blind and defrauding the club of substantial amounts then it's ok for me to say that Stendel was discussing terms with Huddersfield. I thought that's how this worked?
Val was about 5th or 6th on West Brom’s list though. If Wilder says yes there’s a good chance Val stays at Barnsley for another season, based on the fact I don’t think any of the other teams looking for a Head Coach had £2 million to spend. He certainly wouldn’t have got the Bournemouth gig or the Fulham one.
But my point is, do we know the exact story behind why? No. Same as, do we know the exact story behind the Stendel sacking. No. So, I'll do what everyone else does and fill in the blanks as I see fit.
The Club, who have continually lied to us throughout their term deserve all the contempt they get. Their lies are on record. Remember Reds Reserved Plus? Lie. It's not speculation. Remember the Fanzone debacle? Lie. There's threads and threads on here that boast facts rather than speculation - including the recent one that states they wouldn't be taking a pound out of the club. Lie. Let's have a friendly with Watford. Lie. They aren't 'defrauding the club and robbing us blind'. They're just liars. And so any public communication that I read from them will be treated as a lie until proven otherwise. Oulare isn't injured he's waiting for his visa. Oh wait he is injured. Oh wait he's waiting for a visa. Oh wait he's injured. More lies.
Your loyalty to our owners is laudable. Keep spending and supporting as that will ensure the club can carry out in the same manner. Private equity millionaires deriving their funding from the folk of Barnsley.
If West Brom get a different coach, the dominos fall in a different direction and other clubs are looking. Plus, for a long while it was looking like West Brom or palace would be in for him. Having a release clause that by the looks of it is constantly active, leaves you walking on egg shells as soon as your coach has any sort of success.
