And I have to include me even though the board never, ever said they were going to splash the cash. The answer is simple....if you want to knock the heads together of the Board, the Council and the Crynes.... Stay away from the next home game en masse. Anything less and they will carry on doing what they like and telling us as little as possible.
Could try out the new complimentary Chien Lee Barnsley F.C willy warmer range. Don't put it on your complimentary membership chocolate dildo though because it will melt.
I haven’t been to last 2 and perhaps won’t to the next. Not all due to dissatisfaction but my motivation is at a low ebb. My concerns are that I think there are many problems behind the scenes ie ground, staff, leadership etc. Secondly and maybe a knock on effect is I think there are problems in the squad too, we don’t seem fit, don’t know our best team and not confident in the coaching and direction. To turn both around is a huge task. mass boycott will certainly get people to sit up and listen probably more so than any protests or banners. But I feel for the players a bit who need support right now.
Well I keep hearing the comment that one of the reasons we did so well last year was that there were no fans in the ground to get on the backs of the players so maybe it might help Seriously though the issues about the state of the ground and whose responsibility it is has reached the stage where those involved need calling to account. To be honest I'd expect ground improvements to be funded by player sales just like they've been done in the past but it's time the three parties involved started to act like they collectively give a f**k and stopped playing stupid games.
I agree. Closure of the west stand is interesting …. Will it be the thing that really creates a fan reaction and enough is enough stance or will it be another on the list we moan about just on social media. There will be a tipping point at some stage I’m sure.
Thing is, in my humble opinion, if the performances and results on the pitch were going well or even just ok, there wouldn’t be nearly as much concern/outrage of the off-field stuff as their is at the moment. For the record, I’m just as concerned and confused about the current situation as most, but my point still stands
Really hope the covenant that the owners are objecting to isn’t the one the council put on the land that it can only be used for sport . Bit worrying if that’s the objection and if they don’t inform the fans then speculation and rumours like this are bound to happen.
Both I think . Council and Crynes purchased it and severed it from Club for exactly those reasons and if I’m not mistaken re iterated the original covenant into the deeds or certainly council put something into after the Doyle/Collegiate fiasco .
Doyle is the one who separated the club and the land into two companies. Oakwell community assets simply purchased one of those two companies, Patrick on his own bought the other. And if the covenant was in the deeds wouldn't any buyer have access to those before buying the company? I know I looked at the deeds to my house before I signed to buy it
The below is from Eric Illsley speaking in Parliament in November 1994 re Oakwell. Publically available information through Hansard to anyone with an internet connection... "A wholly exceptional circumstance for Barnsley football club is a covenant on the playing surface at the ground. The family which gave the club the ground—it originally owned the brewery that adjoined the ground—placed a covenant on the land when it was given to the club. The covenant provided that the land could be used only as a football pitch. That meant that if the club wanted to dispose of the ground it had to face the covenant on the pitch. That meant, in turn, that the club could not relocate to another ground without substantial problems in disposing of the playing area. Relocation was not really an option for the club. I suggest that that is an exceptional circumstance." Regardless of whether this was what made ConLee pull out, the Crynes claim the third party claim is long expired.
I think for those fans wishing to boycott or boo, whatever they fancy. They need to nominate a spokesperson to speak "in person" with Cauley Woodrow and explain you/they aren't deserting the team.
Neither will I. Was always going to be difficult but I can’t even sit in my “new” seat but am literally by the corner flag so I am definitely not going now
I'm not going to the Blades game so there are two 'free' seats in the east upper if you want to go and sit there? PM me if you do.
