Went to a game there one Tuesday night in the away end just before lockdown, and I have to say it’s a lovely little stadium! I was a little envious.
I would welcome us building a completely new stadium just like the NYS to be honest. It was totally depressing on Saturday sat at Oakwell, the ground around Oakwell is a **** hole, barely any access now thanks to beevor court being closed, and the concourse in the ponty end is depressing, then being sat in the seat just looking round, there’s no atmosphere due to the open corners of the stand, the ground is clearly too big for us, the lack of scoreboard is embarrassing, as are the advertising boards behind the new electronic ones. The match day experience is and has been a shambles for a while now.

We need a nice new stadium, at something like 16k capacity with the possibility of adding to it. Better media facilities, a decent scoreboard or two, and more hospitable concourses with decent food and drink! Come on mister Lee & Conway, bring us into the 21st century ffs! Spend some money!

Oakwell can be pretty soulless on a cold Tuesday night in February!

What’s wrong with that? It’s a good size for Rotherham fan base this generates a good atmosphere.

Oakwell is far too big for our fan base, add to that limited numbers of away fans and the atmosphere at Oakwell is tepid!

Absolutely nothing, I like it! Not sure why you think I've got a problem with it??

it's soulless most games due to the ways it's built

It's sounds like there more than 9k in their stadium when they score, lovely little stadium whenever I've been. Disagree about the size of our stadium though, 16k isn't big enough - we haven't averaged less than 13,500 in our last three seasons at this level and that's with limited away fans. 16k wouldn't be enough when playing the big local rivals and when the away end isn't limited we get plenty of games over 16k.

Maybe a 20k capacity would be just right? Corners filled in etc... it's quite depressing to see the old girl in the state she's in. Especially when you think back to certdin glory days when it was packed to the rafters !

Well there'll be 2 spare seats if we ever relocate.

I do like the Rotherham stadium. I’ve been a number of times, but I think it would be short sighted to build one that size for Barnsley. It would need to be considerably bigger. That’s not saying we’re massive, but when we are on a run, Oakwell gets pretty full.

Oakwell has one bad stand that needs replacing. The rest of the stadium is fine. Maybe a bit of work needed on the concourses but I think it’s fine.

Rotherham, Donny etc replaced their stadiums because they were absolute shjtholes. I dont see the need to build a new stadium for the sake of one stand

Would be nice to close off the corners methinks... it feels weird to me personally, four individual stands. Always been a fan of the "sweep" so to speak; where terraces or whatever connected to the next section.

Build the Rotherham stadium, and become Rotherham.

We almost got to the Premier League last season. Let's not talk ourselves down. A New York Stadium, or Keepmute, is too small for us.

Ken booth lost ownership of the club during admin but kept ownership of the ground and made ridiculous demands on the club to allow them to remain as tenants. My memory might be failing me but I think one was that he would get all advertising revenue from the ad boards and another was that he had unlimited use of the club's physics for his personal use

i think the ground has some kind of covenant that it can only be used as a sporting venue. Boothkept giving club as tenants ridiculous demands so they pjssed off and left him with it
