My head was spinning like her on't Exorcist about who does what at Oakwell/Grove Street so if the story about the closure is correct (not doubting the other post validity) then where do we go next, and who handles it?
I *think*, but I am never really sure, so I hope someone can correct me in equally simple terms, but: 'The Club" is owned 80% by the consortium, 20% by the Cryne family Oakwell is owned by 'the Club' 50% and the Council 50% under a name like Oakwell Holdings, or similar.
The owners of the ground so 50% crynes and 50% council. But with crynes last time we heard not received anything for the sale of the club i don't blame them for not up keeping the ground. Be nice to hear the cryne familys take on things.
If I sell you a business but keep the premises and you fail to make any payments I don't think I'd build you a extension.
The difficult thing in all this, without communication of even the basics*, we don't know who the bad guys are here. I am not a fan of the consortium, never trusted them, don't like their model. But if I had a little more insight, I might be totally wrong on that opinion. Likewise, my gut feeling is that I feel for the Crynes. Is that based on blind faith in 'one who saved us' and misguided gratitude, are are the family the bad guys in all this mess? Total lack of attachment to the club currently. At times I feel like I'm not even a proper fan. WHERE'S THE ENJOYMENT GONE? * Yes, I know, I don't need the full on legal details and dispute airing in public, all I ask is a handle on the situation.
If the stand is not fit for purpose and the Cryne’s and council don’t have cash for a new one, could there be a scenario where owners put a very lower offer in on the ground “we’ll take it off your hands” that way they get a stadium for peanuts and can develop as they see fit
Depends on the lease agreement with commercial leases quite often the renter becomes responsible for the upkeep of the property and is responsible for repairs so once again because we don't know the details we don't know who to blame. Just like the rest of the mess that is the transfer of Barnsley FC from the Cryne family to Lee Conway and Co.
Let's be honest. Nobody knows. All of them should be hanging their heads. Council, Cryne and Consortium. Disgrace.
All the title documents and copies of leases over 7 years long are available from the Land Registry, so ownership information is publicly available.
Don't forget the mineral rights situation....that alone stops a spade being put into the land....that issue hasn't been resolved yet to my knowledge
One other point, the court case according to Mr Conway is between the club (Barnsley FC Limited) and the Crynes.
