Another gem from Schopp in the Chronicle. "It would be very helpful if Victor Adeboyejo started scoring." No s**t Sherlock!
On a more serious note. I don't think Vic did much wrong with his chance against Blackpool, struck it well enough, on target and the keeper made a decent save. The chance against Blackburn wasn't really a chance as it was out of his reach. The Stoke one was disappointing because he didn't really make an effort to score seemed to hope it would bounce in off him. But that would have been daylight robbery had we beat Stoke. Think he's being a bit harsh.
I know a lot of these will be substitute appearances but Victor has played over 100 professional games now and got 6 goals. How he has played as many games in the championship for us baffles me no end.
Wonder why he has picked on Victor - he has at least got into positions where scoring was a possibility which isnt the case for any of the other "Strikers" I think it would be very helpful if the manager had a plan and was able to adapt that plan if needed during the game a bit like the last 3 managers used to operate
When you have the 5hit forwards we have creating one or two guilt edged chances a game is no good. You need bombardment, Styles and Brittain need to be encouraged to run the line and put first time balls into the box.
Don't dispute that. But I heard a similar quote from Schopp from the pre Forest presser, sounded like he was clinging on those missed chances from Victor as a defence for the results. Just saying that the Blackpool and Blackburn chances in particular where ones he probably couldn't have done much more with. If he really thinks missing one or two chances a game is more of an issue than generally being dominated in midfield and conceding a ton of chances after losing the ball ourselves, then he's well and truly deluded.
Maybe we should play in a style that creates chances not the 8 we got on Wednesday neet or worse still the 2 blocked chances at Bournemouth.
I think he's being clouded by the fact we haven't been thrashed yet. Had Stoke City and Notts Forest had their shooting boots on we would have been.
Given our options, I'm happy enough with Vic getting the odd game, with a view to a run in the team if he finds his lucky boots. Firmly believe he could go on a run if he could bag a couple. I know it's a big if.
I’d rather start Vic over Odour or Frieser, at least he brings us some physicality up top, which we’re greatly lacking at the minute. Unfortunately he’s not very good with his feet on the ball, he’s a touch of an elephant. He’s basically playing two leagues above his level. Not his fault really, but more the boards fault for not moving him on and replacing with better quality. And before someone mentions Oulare, I mean better quality who was available from the get go!
Victor has had many games in L2 and never scored. You've either got it or you haven't. Victor hasn't.......
We don't create much so when chances fall we need to be clinical I know freiser has scored 2 this season but he may had well come and sat with me past 2 games what use he's been. Apart from giving possesion away for forests opener. Between all our forwards we've scored 5 goals all season one a pen and another a worldie free kick so 3 from open play. Says alot.
Bloody hell Ben, you've gone on the defensive again, just when you were starting to show signs of realism
Agree with that. I can’t remember the last time we created meaningful chances and had any sustained pressure on the opponent’s goal, QPR maybe? And yet against Forest cut through us many times in that second half. Not a good combination of things.
