Persisting with adding buy out clauses is utterly pointless, because as we saw a few months ago, any manager who has any sort of success just gets poached by another club. And of course now we are lumbered with a dud who we’ll have to pay off! There’s too many things wrong with how the board are running the club, and this one of many! We will never progress as a club, we are just stagnating!
We finished fifth last season. In the history of the club that is the complete opposite of stagnation. The loss of Dike, Mowatt, Ismael and Morris to injury were entirely unavoidable. That said the board need to act very swiftly to correct what looks like a huge mistake in employing Schopp.
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that you have just awakened from a coma and completely missed last season.
My point is Val did well but because of the clause we lose him and have now taken a huge backwards step instead of using this as a springboard to progress!
your assuming that managers would sign without the clause. I think given we use the ‘shop window’ into English football as an incentive then i think it helps rather than hinders. But hey maybe we need a manager who is already in the English window next.
I’d say barring Morais and Schopp, we’ve been good with our managerial choices. Do we really think these coaches would come if there wasn’t the release clause?
It gave him wings. It also gave him the arse of a crow. He's flying all over Oakwell 5hittin' on the people below.
Yes I do. One step below the premier league and the chance of moving at worst to a larger club in the same division, but yeah I’m sure schopp wouldn’t have left a small provincial club in Austria for little old Barnsley.
