I wonder if they actually tried to keep Val?

He left cos he had a get out clause and we got 2 million.
Did Val really want to leave or was he pushed?
I wasn't a fan of his but I'd have him back in a flash.

That 2m release clause looks very daft now and I don’t for one moment think Val wouldn’t have agreed to come to England without it.

I think the only chance was if we had been promoted...with hindsight a lower top ten finish might have been better and push on this season.

A bigger, better club came in for him, what do you think?

Nah deffo two mill and we pushed him out ,
Why would anybody want to leave Barnsley for West Brom and treble their wages? No one on their right minds would do that

I wouldn’t even mind if it was for a more crazy figure but 2m is nothing when it comes to dealing with championship teams. WBA got a manager and a player of the season combined for it.

Wonder what Schopp’s clause value is?

More to the point did VI really try to get Mowatt to sign or did he tip him off he had, had a better offer once the season finished?

Mowatt was always going to get an offer to at least double his wages from someone. He was never going to re sign here unless we'd won the play offs.

I think we were only ever going to be a stepping stone for him and in turn we were happy to grab the £2m

Whats gone has gone , you cannot look back for the blame of the current situation , sorting this mess out is our priority & unless thing happen quickly then the inevitable will happen for Mr Schopp , thankfully we have 36 games to sort it out & somehow I do not think our current owners will be slow to act , we will see.
