In general I agree, but not when you're consulting your gut for a BBS poll!

Anyone who's half empty must have only started supporting Barnsley last season.

I don't go really far back (mid 90s), but watching the game against Bournemouth felt like watching us in the very darkest days of the Keith Hill era, and that's about as low as I've ever felt watching a Barnsley side.

    Stoke was much better though.

I’m quite optimistic. With the players we have unavailable I thought there was a good chance we’d be playing catch up & in the drop zone early doors.

There’s been several games where I’ve looked at our team & thought we’re getting beat today & we haven’t so that’s a positive for me.

If we’re still not picking up wins when we’ve got our new signings up to speed & Anderson, Morris & Williams back available then I’ll start worrying.

If you're old enough to have seen us managed by Iley then you'd also have seen Glavin though! Ups and downs.

The performance at Bournemouth was one of the worst I've seen of the games I've attended in my 39 years on the planet.

Worst I've seen? No. It isn't quite Crawley home and away 2014/15, Grimsby away 2004, Ipswich at home 1996. Games like that. But I'd put it alongside Cardiff away last season, or Stoke away under Gerhard. Games where we might as well have just handed the opponent the points instead of swapping teamsheets.

Good for the soul, games like that. Apparently.

For 85 minutes though, Ipswich home was one of the most comprehensive displays I've ever seen by a Barnsley side. We were absolutely masterful. The only criticism would be that we took our foot off the gas at 3-0, when we looked well capable of getting 5 or 6.

Although the start hasn't been great, we still have quality players in almost every position (when all fit and not banned) so that when they start to gel with the new signings we'll be ok. Not a top 6 finish though. Mind, I'd have said much the same last September.....:oops::oops:

We really could have done with a third option glass at half way. Im on the fence so far and we need to see what happens when we get some players back - I have a feeling that Schcopp is not a lucky manager in the way that Ishmael seemed to be but its too soon to really tell. (Though he used some luck up at Stoke thats for sure)

I've seen us play some awful football over the years and lose 1 nil but not have a shot on goal and struggle to put 3 passes together. Look at Bournemouth it could have been a cricket score if they could finish and we didn't manage a shot on goal, Stoke we score a worldie and Brad Collins turned into Peter schimchel for 90 mins to keep the score at 1-1. If your happy with that because only the scorline matters okay but its very worrying imo

To throw away a 3-0 lead like that with just a few minutes left has haunted me ever since. I was 14-years-old and I think that experience aged me about five years.

It was my 18th birthday. What a present! I know what you mean about being haunted by it. Since that day I have never felt 100% comfortable going into the last five minutes of a match with a three goal lead!

    hold on H!

Why can't our glass be 25%/75% full or empty or even 100% full/empty

I'm very optimistic about this season - I'd say my glass is 90% full.
