First time I’ve seen my local side Harrogate Town since their non-league days and it’s quite an upgrade. The ground has been improved and the players are knocking the ball about at pace.

Newport County are the visitors and I’ve not seen them since that 4-1 win back in the last century.

2-2 half time and very good to watch. I hate standing up though. Couldn’t get a seat.

One of my Sheffield Utd mates is there. I visited Harrogate FC once. Nice ground and set up.

Not bad for this level but not much chance of developing it further should they need to. Too built up all four sides

2-2 final score. Pretty good standard and just shows how the skill levels have rocketed since our old Fourth Division days

I agree. League 2 possibly 1 would IMO be their level.
Doubt they would ever have the fan base to go on to succeed at a higher level.

And didn't the Premier/top flight "fans" have a snooty attitude to them being there?
I loved it when Wimbledon stuffed the red Scouse at Wembley in '88

Course they did and it was the same when Carlisle and Northampton got there as well, going back even further. Just proved that small clubs can get to the top for a while, no matter how briefly. Even “teams like Barnsley” managed it!

Come to think of it ... Watford went all the way through the leagues and finished well. Swansea was another.
The Premier/Sky has a lot to answer for in my opinion....Too much money in the game now, and the bulk of it is at the top. Thus we have elitism. Probably why I like Leicester of late, but then again they have a big investor. But at least they baulked the trend so to speak
Never liked em in the old days, although our games were do memorable on quite a few occasions with them

Harrogate "old boy" Liam Kitching was there too. He was on loan to Harrogate from Leeds Utd before joining Forest Green. I saw him walking in front of the main stand (I was in fifth row back) accompanied by a stocky blond youth (his minder ?).

Decent crowd, didn't hear how many, but the queues for the turnstiles were pretty bad. I had to queue round the corner in Lancaster Park Road when I turned up at 7:30 - only just got in in time for the kick-off.
