But I don't understand why they aren't phrasing it as a number of confirmed cases, and number of confirmed close contacts of those cases. Would be interesting to see how many of the India players are currently isolating.
How would people go about getting refunds for that? Sky broadcastong revenue plus tickets and corporate boxes and food and drink and merchandise. I bet its over £10million. The difference between county teams with test venues keeping going or going under.
surely they must take back up staff on a long tour Helen , and there are surely enough qualified physios that they could have on stand by in the unlikely event anything serious cropped up, and any way a couple of hours from the scheduled start?
All sounds like a bit of a shambles. Lots of people will be left seriously out of pocket. Out of interest though, how different is this to what England did in South Africa?
India are coming back next year to play some white ball games so they could try and squeeze it in ! Not ideal
There wasn't a vaccine available during the South Africa v England series and it was also at the start of the pandemic when nobody had a clue what was happening. It's a bit different now.
It's all politics. The BCCI are papping themselves in case this impacts on the up coming IPL, sadly it's all about money. The timing actually works well for the BCCI and IPL because it gives to be India players more time to isolate or quarantine when they get home. It's such an hasty decision . Get 11 fit and tested players on the pitch and play bloody cricket. I'm sure there's plenty of local physios etc available to cover for backroom staff that have tested positive.
