Y’a reckon leaving at 8.00 is enough time to get to Bournemouth? Is there any roadworks on the way down I need to know about?

    TIA

Avoid Huddersfield Road. The City Fibre mob are at it again.

True. When you get to Bournemouth, they'll be digging up there too.

When I last lived in the UK I used to plan any journey over 100 miles by googling the route time then adding three more hours for roadworks. I found it an absolute nightmare. On numerous occasions I found myself being stuck for an hour plus for roadworks or accidents in the early hours of the morning or diverted off a motorway into the middle of nowhere.
    I can't imagine it's got any better.

Waze says to get there for 3ish you need to set off by 1030, so allowing for a quick stop etc 8am should be fine.

I know it's a fair old trek, but having to set off in the eleventh century sounds a bit early to me. Maybe for an evening kick-off, but not for a 3pm.

Yes, but he needs to get there before 1066. Imagine the disruption the Battle of Hastings is going to cause across the south.

I once went to Goodwood races on the South Coast we stayed in Staines. I thought London was pretty near. (Was only a couple of cm's on the map.) I didn't realise Goodwood was another 2 hours on top.

Same when I stayed at Weston Super Mare and fancied a day trainspotting at Paddington. Three hours it took.

Then same holiday I went to Exeter another 2 hour trek. I just assumed everything got closer once you were "down South". It doesn't.

Yup, if you leave at 8 o' clock today or tomorrow you should get there in plenty of time:)

Hmm let me think…. The Ringwood by pass just north of Bormuff. On a Saturday still in the holiday season. Hmm, expect hold ups. Guaranteed!!

Well the official coaches are leaving at 7:30
So you would hope going by car at 8 ought to do it but if you want time to have a beer etc you might want to leave a bit earlier. Especially as we are still in the holiday season I plan to leave Farnham at 10:30 and I’m a lot closer. Though I need to use the M3 and M27. Which if you have any sense coming from Barnsley you will avoid and head south via Oxford and Newbury etc

    Depends on your route Judith.

    I’d go M1 A43 M40 A34 M3 M27

    avoid the M25

    avoid the A46
